Hi,

I'm looking to buy an Alphard for some time now, however due to the many variations and trims it's rather confusing.

I always assumed that the Alphard cam eon two engines, 2.4 litre and 3.0 litre. I've now seen some car dealers selling Alphards with 3.5 litre engines. Are these as reliable as the the 3.0 litre? I've not seen them covered on the forums. The advert also states these engines don't have a timing belt?

Any help and/or advice would be appreciated.

3.0 is the first generation MH10 up to 2008, 3.5 is the second generation MH20 2008-2015., 2.4 is in both.

Timing belt is only on 3.0 MH10 the rest has a chain.

Thank you for the information.

Can I ask whether there has been any reliability issues with the 3.5? Is it more or less reliable than the 3.0 engine.

Kind regards

From my understanding 3.5 is also in the latest Alphard/Vellfire series from 2015 onwards.

Must be a decent one as Toyota decided to keep it with the current models.
