  1. Hi everyone, so we took receipt of the 'van last weekend afer I followed all of your advice re the CarVX report etc. Thank you for that. We loved the drive home, although it took a litle getting used to. Took the 'van out during the week, popped the roof and generally just tried to get a better understanding of how everything works. Everything was going great until yesterday, when, in preparation for a 400 mile journey, I checked the levels, lights etc. To my surprise the expansion tank was empty. I had some unopened antifreeze in the garage so began to pour it in but as I poured it in, it came out the side of the plastic tank, please see photo showing crack. Does anybody have experience in repairing this or do I need to replace it? It looks to be mounted on to the fan housing so not just a quick fix. How would I know if I'd done any permanent damage to the engine? There's a high possibility that either it was empty when we bought it and then subsequently drove 200 miles or it's just happened and I've hardly driven anywhere to get the engine hot enough. I'm hoping it's the latter and no long term damage has been done.
  2. Hey! Thanks for your reply. The MOT has just been carried out in the last week or so and I’ve already received a reduction in cost for to have the advisories done at a later date. I guess my main concern is it hasn’t been serviced for more than four years, although only travelled 8K miles in that time. Should this concern me? What about the fact the current owner has no history of the sale and import from Japan. It’s a private sale.
  3. Hey everyone! We are yet to buy our first Alphard but are seriously considering one. It is a 2006, imported in 2021. Hasn't been serviced since import but has only done 8K miles in that time, with a total of 65K miles on the clock. MOT pass each year with no advisories, until this year when rear brake discs and pads are now being advised. I have pictures of the vehicle pre import but the current owner doesn't have the import paperwork. It's a lovely van and I'm sure it will be fine but needed to see what other people thought before we commit to making the purchase. Thanks in advance!
