  1. ....or take it to a football match!
  2. Hey, I find the social part of A2oc.net, the Audi A2 owners club very interesting and fulfilling. The meets promote help, info and camaraderie. They also promote trust and goodwill, to the extent that bulky items are often relayed around the country from sellers to buyers. All done on trust and foc! Their forum has a Social section to promote annual national, or random local events, which works well. Maybe we need to increase membership, and an easy means is via meets?
  3. I think meets are a great way to pick up knowledge. I am involved with other car clubs and we have several "national" and "regional" meets each year.
  4. Many thanks, will give this a go.
  5. Look up JdM Castle Coombe On facebook
  6. Thats the 7 seater layout, same as mine. I particularly wanted this layout.
  7. Have a look here https://facebook.com/events/s/jdm-castle-combe/3077861329102293/
  8. Welcome. I guess it depends what you're prepared to spend. Series 10 only came as the Alphard, up to 2007. Series 20 came as Alphard or Vellfire from 2008. Differences are cosmetic front styling and rear lights, other than that they are the same. We have a 2008 Vellfire 3.5Z. The 3.0 engine in the earlier cars has a belt driven cam. The 3.5 in the Series 20 has chain drive, so no servicing. Many parts are common to other Lexus and Toyota models which are marketed in the UK. Servicing is generally not a problem. There are garages that are happy to work on these cars, and there is info available on the forum. Some leave the distance in km and just change the scale on the speedo. The km can be changed to miles, and again, browse the forum for info on this. If you're stuck, just ask. No questions are daft, we are all still learning! There is a gathering at Castle Coombe Circuit on 2nd July, where you will be able to talk to owners and experts. Depends how soon you are looking to buy. Enjoy, whatever your choice.
  9. Many thanks Chris. Need to remove the whole unit, vent and light?
  10. Guys is there a video or description anywhere showing how to remove the 2nd and 3rd row light units. Need to access wiring and don't want to break anything.
  11. Did you ever modify the wiring as above? If so how do I remove the light fittings to wire the centre and rears in parallel?
  12. Have 3.5 Vellfire 2wd. Lovely drive, effortless motoring. Can be thirsty if pushed, but lots of smiles per gallon! Really pleased we got this.
  13. You will also be limited for choice if you have the 18 speaker Theatre Sound.
  14. No problem at all. Thats what these forums are for.
  15. Bens conversion includes a USB port, which is necessary to connect to your phone for Carplay & Android Auto. I think you can alternatively plug in a USB stick, with pre loaded music.
  16. Surely by now, someone must make a head unit that does all that this unit does, plus has inputs for the front and side cameras!
  17. I was with Aviva, but they didn't want to know once converted. Now with Admiral.
  18. Yes, Ben is really nice guy. His unit is a bit of a mystery tour! I use Android Auto with my Samsung phone. Its OK but could be better, but thats no reflection on Ben.
  19. Apologies for the delay. I now have Android Auto and Carplay available, so can play radio via my phone, in English! Phone has to be connected via cable, so gets some charge whilst in use, but minimal. It's not a bad setup, but the head unit shows its age by the screen definition. I would like a modern head unit, thats autonomous for radio, but it seems that having Theatre Sound is an obstacle to that option. I have contacted a guy who fitted a modern head unit, and put the original in the central cubby. The two were linked somehow, and he retained front n rear cameras, with theatre sound. My ideal would be a 12" Tesla style screen, but retaining all 3 cameras and theatre sound.
  20. Welcome to our pain! Mine currently being modified by @Ben Hau in Birmingham to give Android Auto on the original head unit.
  21. Hi, I have a 3.5. Its silky smooth and there's power when you need it! Had a gas conversion fitted, and overall very pleased with it. Mine is a G edition. It has no sunroofs, so no risk of leaks! Also has the velour seats, which we prefer to leather which can be cold or hot, depending on the weather. It is a 7 seater, and most passengers are impressed with the middle seats. Hope this helps.
  22. Only had mine since late December, but no difference on gas when driving. Andrew is a very helpful and knowledgeable guy. He did my conversion, plus fitted a new set of plugs, and 3 coil packs on the rear bank.
