Just a quick update to this, decided to replace both rear adjustable shocks with the standard items. Spoke to Lee at Autojapspares who was really helpful and had a set in the post the same day. Got them swapped out at the local garage who just disconnected the sleeping and cable tied it out of the way. Working a treat and no warning lights on the dash. £120/pair instead of £1000+ for one! Pity the adjustable units aren't readily available at a decent price anymore but no real loss. Kept the offside adjustable which is still in really good condition, will pop out on eBay at some point to hopefully recoup the cost 👍 Thanks again to those who replied and hope this helps anyone in the future.

Hi there, hoping someone can help me out with this one. Purchased a 2006 Alphard MZG a couple of years ago through Algys which took 24 months to arrive and ended up costing several thousands more than expected. When the car arrived last year it was MOT'd and then spent another chunk and several months with the converter trying to resolve an engine light fault. Just taken the vehicle for its first MOT and it has failed due to a badly leaking NSR suspension strut. Unfortunately the vehicle is fitted with adjustable suspension. I have tried to source a replacement through amayama (£500 + shopping) who have emailed to say that they are unable to source the part and have cancelled the order. Toyota UK gave me a quote of £1100 but no guarantee they can actually get the part 😞 Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to source a brand new replacement or failing that a warrantied used part. I've emailed a couple of Japanese specialist breakers but no joy yet. Any chance the unit could be reconditioned? The only other option I can see is to replace the suspension all round with standard non adjustable which seems ridiculous but maybe my only option if I can't source the part. The car is obviously off the road until I can get this sorted. All advice greatly appreciated!
