What makes a ‘Club’
OldWellhouse replied to Oddcouple's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
A sticker! Possibly a pencil case as well. -
My van previously had a swing out bracket that held a table but it was missing when I bought it. I looked at what was available on ebay and found they were all quite small and expensive so I thought I'd knock one up. Found a cheap 70's formica coffee table(lightweight 12mm ply) locally for £5 and bought the fiamma tripod base, pole and table mount(expensive) which is now used by some conversion shops because they give the added advantage of being able to rotate it and take the table out the van and use anywhere, while folding up flat for storage. I put on some cheap vinyl I got online(£7) and some 12mm knock on T trim(£12). Routered the groove round the table top which was a doddle and fitted the edging. It's very stable on rough ground and fits the van perfectly. It's 100cm by 45cm which is a lot bigger than some others I've seen.

Curtains/blinds for my alphard
OldWellhouse replied to Southvillesteve's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Mine has Van X curtains and they're decent. The tracks dont look that difficult to bend to shape etc. -
They have a few scuffs so I'm getting them refurbished and I have the choice of all black, or they can do them black and then re-diamond cut them and just leaving the black on the reliefs. I think that would look quite tidy but also wondering how they'll look all black. What do you think would look better?

Very nice. Is the 2 tone painted or wrapped? -
Passenger rear sliding door not opening fully
OldWellhouse replied to Gerrymclean's topic in Toyota Alphard Servicing
Is there a way of resetting it like the windows maybe? Do you mind me asking how much cable replacement cost to get and fit? I saw posters on another place suggesting people remove the cable altogether if it breaks, which I thought sounded daft. -
A gallery thread of members awning rails with the type they used and how they fitted it would be super handy for this forum. I'm surprised Fiamma dont offer fitment brackets for their wind outs like they do for most other vans. I wonder if it's worth contacting them with e-mails from every Alphy owner on the group asking for them would change their mind.

OldWellhouse replied to OldWellhouse's topic in Toyota Alphard Camper Discussions
I found a RHD one with black trim for £14ish on Ali. Will update thread when it comes and we'll see what the quality is like. -
Dashboard carpet/matts
OldWellhouse replied to OldWellhouse's topic in Toyota Alphard Camper Discussions
Cheers I hadn't even thought about it preventing reflection. Will have a look on Ali. -
Any joy?

There are about 3 acres of space on the dashboard and I've seen a pic once of a fitted mat that looked quite good and would be handy for when stuffing things on the dash while camping. Anyone got one?

I don't want to post too much on my exact location but it's a well known Toyota dealership in Lancashire(I can elaborate via PM if needed). They've serviced a few recently they said. There was ONE thing they picked up on during the service and safety inspection and that was one of my front tyres is wearing on one side slightly so wheel realignment is recommended. That's it! To say I'm happy would be an understatement apart from the £250 it cost, although I think it'll pay for itself when I come to selling one day. I've booked it in to have the wheels blasted and powder coated in piano black so will get the realignment done then. I need to source some black centre caps and think I'll treat it to some new boots all round.

Is that engine in your Alphy? I'm still thinking I added it up wrong but I mostly did 55 on the motorway and the rest was up and down hills and down the coast of Cumbria. If I get that again I'll be delighted even at 1.90 per litre. I have it in for a Toyota main dealer service today, wish me luck for the results! Edit: I just realised I did the calculation on the first run based on half a tank and not the exact litres used, so maybe that one is off.

UPDATE! I must have gotten this wrong somehow but I was driving like Miss Daisy and I sat behind a Royal Mail truck on the motorway. 582kms = 361mls used 48.8L of E5. By my calculations(google) that makes 33.6MPG? Surely that isn't right?

Thanks Pitch, that looks the business. I think your roof cover may be a bit wider than mine looking at that.

Making bed comfortable?
OldWellhouse replied to Patrick's topic in Toyota Alphard Camper Discussions
I got a self inflating rock n roll bed mattress that is very comfortable. It takes up a bit of space for travelling and was expensive but it's night and day to sleeping straight on the seat cushions. -
Seeing the mentioned issues with the gas struts on tailgates I'd be cautious. Maybe it's possible to get more heavy duty struts though, they seem relatively cheap on Ali Express.

A photo of the exact fitting point would be great if you can.

Toilet storage in your Campard
OldWellhouse replied to OldWellhouse's topic in Toyota Alphard Camper Discussions
I wasn't sure whether to go with Camphard or Campard, but felt dropping the h was best.
