I know you’re running 17” wheels whilst I’m on 16” but as I have had the full side conversion with pop-top I went for the higher load and speed rating. Thanks for the info Arthur. I've gone for 101V Michelin's so hopefully the ride will be firmer.

I have read, that on the 4wd vehicles it is very advisable to keep all tyres the same size and roughly the same wear.

Thanks for the info. This seems to bare out what somebody has said in a Alphard Camper Facebook group. I may have to bite the bullet and replace all 4 tyres as they are all as imported, the rear ones were an advisory on the MOT.

You could keep one of the front as a new spare, if the condition is better than the spare you have.

Thanks for your advice Rojie. After a lot of Googling and looking at reviews I found 225/55/R17 101V Michelin Primacy 4 tyres at a good price online and so I've decided to change all 4.

Hi. I have a 2008 AH10 3.0 V MS 4WD Alphard that has had a Northstar rear conversion. I need new tyres on the back and on checking I have 235/50R17 96Y tyres on. When I checked the front ones they are 225/55R17 101Y tyres ( 225/55R17are specified by the manual for front and rear)! Would there be a particular reason for having different spec tyres on the front and rear? Should I change them all to the recommended spec front and rear? Bearing in mind that it has a rear conversion and we carry an inflatable awning and lots of other gear with us when we are away, should I go for XL tyres at the back? Anyone got any recommendations for good quality tyres that will wear well?

Hi. We have had our 2008 3ltr V6 Alphard a week now. Adrian Flux quoted me £460 + £99 for breakdown cover. In the end I went on a comparison website and it came up with Grove & Dean who are a broker. I went with them in the end at £437 fully com, including breakdown cover. The insurer is Highway which is part of LV. I did have to send them photos of the vehicle inside and out to show that it had been professionally converted (by Northstar on the Isle of Wight). The fact that my partner (a named driver) is on a 3yr restricted licence with the DVLA for a medical condition would have increased it a bit.

I was a bit surprised that the road tax was £295!
