  1. just had a thought, do you mean to leave the engine running? Is that legal in your neck of the woods, it's definitely not here in the UK.

Also don't forget the engine starts and stops itself when the battery is fully charged and you can't restart manually when it's in gear.

  2. Hi Brandon, given the mileage and age of the vehicle and that a breakdown would cost you work, I would advise going for a van that could be easily repaired and parts obtained and fitted in Canada. Alphards are a fantastic vehicle but so difficult and expensive to diagnose and repair if faulty. Is the Toyota RAV sold there, would that be big enough?

Also, without knowing the market there, 8.5K seems rather high. One other thing to be wary of, as these vehicles are so well finished, beware of clocking.

    GOOD LUCK! 🚐

  3. The HV battery won't charge when first started it has to warm up to charging temp so if you're just sitting idling it will take about 3 to 7 minutes, depending on ambient temp, before it starts charging. Not too sure about your symptoms though.

The HV battery should charge to 80%. If it aint broke don't fix it!!!!! 🔧

  4. Try charging the battery fully, remove the earth cable from the battery, measure the voltage across the battery, then leave it uncoupled for a couple of days and check the voltage again. Ideally the first reading would be about 12.8 volts and the second about 12 - 12.4v if the second reading is under 12v then the battery most likely is on it's way out. If the second reading is good, above 12v, then there may be a drain when connected to the vehicle, (a hidden interior light on, a door switch not operating correctly, etc and don't forget the alarm system will drain the battery quite quickly, 4 or 5 days if not run regularly). Easiest way if it's possible keep the battery topped up every week with a charger if you're not using the vehicle. Good luck!

PS you don't need a special stop/start battery.

After thought, don't forget to reset the windows after disconnecting the battery.
