  1. @Beds Vellfire Hi Mark, looking back in the records I could find, I purchased the ballast resistor from Auto Japanese Spares, Coventry for £131.10. My local garage charged £180 as they had problems and took longer than anticipated. If you either do it yourself or have a garage that may be familiar may lower that cost.
  2. Update: Many thanks Lee, your assistance has proved invaluable as my garage is not use to imports and had difficulty in finding the ballast resistor. All fitted now and appears to be working but will monitor to see if the fault returns. Once again thank you. Best wishes, Nick
  3. Thanks Lee, I have sent a pm to you with vehicle details
  4. Thanks for your response. The lights work perfectly when initially switched on but as stated the nearside light goes off after a short while. The garage attempted to follow through the system but could not identify the ballast resistor to get an identification part number. So again any help in this direction would be gratefully received.
  5. Hi, I am after some guidance on what I can do to rectify the following problem I am having with my headlights. When I turn them on both lights light and are bright as expected, however after a short period of time my nearside light goes out. Initially I assumed the lamp was defective and replaced on a one for one basis. This did not rectify the fault and thought it may be the ballast resistor. Asked my local garage to investigate but they were stumped and had difficulty in following the system through. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. Greetings from NickC. How have I ended up here? Having experienced a lifetime of camping in one form or another, my wife and I decided to get a SWB Motorhome with the intention of going on day trips and short trips away. After a few days of excessive rain, a very wet and dirty dog (we were in the New Forest) and nowhere to dry the multitude of towels combined with the lack of space, my wife decided enough was enough. We still wanted to go on day trips and have a bit of comfort with room to move around. This is when I spied an Alphard recently purchased by a neighbour and my interest was raised. My wife and I began to look into owning one ourselves, put our campervan up for sale and found a local dealer specialising in Jap imports. Looking around we decided on a Vellfire and as the van was not yet sold went away and delved deeper into the pros and cons. With the possibility of the van being sold (a very interested buyer !) I joined this forum to find out further information. Having read a number of the threads and the guidance on what to look for when purchasing a vehicle, all of which was extremely helpful…..thank you. Result, viewed a number of Vellfire’s and will be picking up a 2012 Vellfire 3.5 GGH25W on Saturday. My wife has ordered a decent suit and cap for me already…….I think that she believes I will be acting as her chauffeur while driven around in luxury (laughing!!)
