I need to get some stronger springs for my rear suspension as it is carrying a lot of weight (rear kitchen etc) also carry a rack on towbar maximum of 50 kilos. It sits quite low on wheel arch so I want to lift them. Any recommendations please?
Thank you so much for that information, now that makes sense. So because alphards are imported mainly because of conversion and have not been made for export I am legal to tow? Marvellous. Bought it with a tow bar and Thule rack so I will not br frightened of using it now if needed.
Do I need to tell my insurance that there us a towbar on my van?
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Its a minefield. My Vin plate shows no weights. I have the towbar fitted it came with it and a Thule Rack to carry a maximum of 50 kilos. Can it be classed as towing cos it has no contact with the road?

Hi all, hope your all having a good weekend π
Can I legally tow with my alphard? I was looking on Google for the towing weight and found it but also read that because it does not show a towing weight on the plate it is not legal and will invalidate my insurance. Is this true?
Hiya Gazza,
Magnets arrived yesterday and today after work I will be getting my machine out and sewing them into the awning rail thing. Me and hubby tried them last night and omg π² it works! Ordered another smaller magnet which will arrive today to go on the curved part of the roof. I do believe it will work. I will try to document it and post it on here to help other members. Thanks for the tip on leaving room to manovre the Magnets so you can get them off the roof!
Cheers Gazza
Hi,
My roof monitor was apparently removed when the pop top was put in and I don't have it, but I have found something under the passenger seat connected up, I have not removed it because not sure what it is. What size is the monitor cos this thing appears to be about 8 or 9 inches. I don't want to just pull it out in case it belongs to the hard drive
Thanks π
Hi Arthur
Thanks for getting back to me. I was really wanting to avoid putting holes into the van or using a glue substance, but if that is the only way to get an awning to stay put I will have to do it.
Thanks for your help π I will search awnings on here π
how are you guys attaching an awning/ awning rail?
I have tried the magnetic and the suction ones and they just won't stay on. I have a pop top could that be the problem?
Yes I charged in the vehicle connected through the mains hook up for 2 days. I don't have a smart charger but will be buying one. It is a 100 amp battery. I am on a split charger. Can't see a date on the battery but was converted 2021. I have a volt display at the back of the van with the on off switch.
Hope this helps
Hi, sorry for delay your message went into my junk email!!
My battery started on 12.7 it is now on 11.7 and will not go any higher. Been charging it on my mains and it will not budge.
