Noticed on the way back from collecting our Alphard that there is ever such a slight knock from the steering column when turning either way from dead ahead. No issues when driving but noticable at slow speeds/maneuvering.
Its done 77k miles so not particularly high and has been cared for. Is this a fairly common thing? Hoping its not new rack territory!
Very common if a series 20 due to electric power steering , annoying but perfectly safe…..easy fix if its just the motor coupling damper £5 on ebay!, otherwise you may have to change out the steering column head unit

I have a similar AnH20 steering column rattle!….I have changed the damper , just reach up and you can unbolt the motor , fish out old damper and refit new one, in my case it wasnt that!….it serms to be play in the actual column splines…so will need to pull the column head off completely , a new one is at least £5-600!, (4520A-58010)
