Cost of insurances depend on age, where you are, how much damage to your vehicle in an accident, trouble free driving etc etc. Insurance companies are inclined to write your motor off rather than repair it. I have only ever had fully comprehensive insurance and unfortunately a claim was made against me several years ago after I misjudged moving my Estima in a hospital car park. I washed the paint from another car off my bodywork, the other driver claimed £1000. from my insurance because the cars touched each other and his paintwork on his plastic bumper was little damaged. Then my insurance wrote off the next 2 Estimas. Not had anoer accident since June 2022.
Then I changed to an Alphard. I got an insurance quote for £1,500. on top of the £565. I had paid for the Estima. When it came up for renewal in March 2023, an eye wateruing £4,200. At renewal in March 2024 £3,600. As i had had a new Hybrid Inverter fitted April/May 2023, I wanted to get my monies worth. Alfie is driving very well apart from the trailing arms still to be replaced, 2 weeks time.
If my insurance is not greatly reduced in March 2025, I will be looking to change vehicles and not an import. The insurance companies have gotten their monies back from paying me out over the 2 write offs. I am now 73.
Hi all, unfortunately this damaged of my vehicle has resulted in a write off.
We were offered a fair compensation yet was again down to being and import and parts issue.
I fear this could be the end of my Alphard journey. Unless I find one in price and to my requirements. 😂 Wanting the moon on stick situation.

You won't find a fuse, because they are not directly connected to independent power.
The cameras are either powered via the headunit, or the intelligent park assist module (ipa)
The sonar also connect via the ipa.
It's more likely you have corrosion on the camera itself and it is no longer functional.
I think that may be the case as the camera had water in it unfortunately.Just annoying that my sensors no longer work also.
Maybe a visit to a auto electrician is required.🤦🏼♂️

Oh! That’s a pain 😂
I was hopeful of a “it’s this one”
moment as I and clueless as to what you have just advised me @Rojie 😂
I shall speak to a friend who works for Toyota.
Cheers

Hi,
Could anyone inform me where the correct fuse is for the rear camera and sonar sensors please?
My camera had water in it and is no longer showing, so I think it could maybe have popped the fuse. I’ve been informed that could be the same fuse for the rear sonar also. As it’s not reading distance so isn’t working also. Very annoying!
Any advice wound be welcomed
Thanks

Hello John,
That's incredible.
Do any of the drivers have bad driving records or insurance claim issues ?
I notice you have your vehicle set incorrectly, I will change it for you.
My normal advice on insurance is to phone the companies; don't use the on-line bot driven systems.
There is a section on motor insurers, and there is also a section for buying and selling.
Consider third party, fire and theft cover to reduce the cost (although increase your risk).
Hi,
We have claimed this past 12 months yet other than that our general history has been good.
Down to £800 now yet still larger than expected. However, trying to insure an alternative car is now seemingly expensive also.
I will search out the sales and insurance sections also again.
Thanks -
Hi,
Could anyone advise on the best place to sell my 2.4 hybrid?
Our insurance went from £400 to £3k and we are “attempting” to try and get it down yet having not much joy.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Have you inadvertently swtched off the sonar?
I don’t think so. The button is on, on the dash and the lights are on. Yet the closer I get to vehicles etc it’s nots beeping.
Was guessing it could be linked in with the camera power as that isn’t working. So effectively both aren’t working.

Is the reversing light in the rear cluster coming on when in R? If not, it suggests the switch which detects reverse gear selection is faulty.
Hi,Yes the reverse light is coming on
fine.
The camera got water inside, it started
to dry out and then stopped working.
However I then noticed the rear sonar was not beeping when close to objects also.
Any direction and advice would be welcomed.

Good Morning.
My 2007 plate 2.4 Hybrid has a camera / Sonar issue.
wWhen engaging in to reverse gear the rear camera is not showing on my original head into display as it once did. Black screen only.
Also the rear parking sensors have stopped beeping.
Would anyone have any clues as to possible reasons?
Are they linked in some way?Where is the fuse located for these for example so I can change them?
Have I pressed something I should not have on my non English display that I can’t understand? 😂
Grateful for any advise.

That’s what my thoughts were regarding the camera. Fuse! Thanks
I will definitely look at PayPal for them.
I previously had 3L Alphard that was like a rocket. Found parts ok for that, now this hybrid is a nightmare! 😂
-
Hi, @Picasso that’s great. Appreciate the reply.
I was just dubious of Ali Express etc. 😂
Have others used these links and been successful with parts?
I have a few issues, that have come up with it. Like the rear reverse camera and reverse sonar sensors not working. Camera got wet, then stoped! Black screen when reversing now 🤦🏼♂️

Good afternoon
I have just been to the garage and been advised I will need the air conditioning motor replaced on the 2.4 Hybrid I have.
Genuin pump compressor assembly with pulley.
Part Number 8831058011
06-2004 to 08-2008 range hybrid
Apparently they can’t be reconditioned and that part is hard to locate according to a supplier online, and new from source is mental money.
Does anyone have an idea of what I can do please? A good used parts dealer etc?

Hi All
Sadly my Alphard is now gone as it was not fixable after our little altercation with Suzuki Jimmy.
So I have a new water pump and belt that we’re due to go on my 2007 2.4 Hybrid.
£100 ish plus postage please.
