Ok thanks both. Picasso I had read your advice on that before but had used cat cleaner in a full tank, which I thought was the packet instructions. I'll give that another go though then before shelling out 400! I have the same engine, 2003, could you possibly send link in case I need it? Just trying to get everything back together to be ready for redoing mot! Thanks again, will keep updated

Hi, I've been reading through threads and hoping I can jump in on this one. I've failed mot on emissions. Garage is saying most likely cat converter but could be the pre cat sensors thst you've linked to here. Do I just ask them to check their computer? I've been looking for new cat converters and can't seem to find any. (Have looked on jap auto spares and partsouq...) will phone toyota tomorrow but assuming a new cat converter is pricey anyway, let alone from dealer! Any helps appreciated, still not sure how much I trust the garage as I'm new to the area!
