I'm looking for a new head unit, I AM READING the forums on here, but my question is, I have the drop down screen which is connected to the head unit, I don't have any other input for that screen, do the aftermarkets work the same as what I have installed??
And what would you recommend

Resurrecting this thread from the dead.
My local Toyota dealer has agreed to do a fluid change for me (AH20 3.5), their car computer system connects up fine.
The reason for taking it to a dealer rather than DIYing it is that the gearbox oil needs to be at a specific temperature (and therefore volume) to get the levels right.I'll post here when complete (including how much it cost.
Hi did you get it done, I have a vellfire 3.5 4wd and looking to get mine done at it's nearly hit 100kmiles

Just recently bought a beautiful Vellfire 2008, it has a Japanese head unit installed, that's connected to the TV, I want to install a UK system, any recommendations thanks
Please change your vehicle year in your profile. I assume you now have a Gen 2 now
Yes, my old vehicle failed, was a complete dog

They didn't even entertain that, I go we are understaffed can we call you back 3weeks ago 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but I've never had a problem with my supra that is an import

However, if you give them the CORRECT part number often they will get that for you (at your risk).

If I've read what you said correctly, it can happen at any time apart from when the engine is cold and running enriched fuelling?
And a "gasp" sound.
That sounds like a possible unmetered air leak somewhere.
Extra air getting in that isn't measured by the Mass Air Flow sensor so the fuelling isn't adjusted for it.
Could be anywhere along the air intake after the MAF - assuming it has one of course!
Sorry English isn't my strongest skill, it happens whenever the engine is at the optimal running temperature idling, doesn't happen while driving, the gasp happens when the revs drop, almost like cutting out

So I had a problem with car, it was running lean, so I replaced both 02 sensors, car is running far better,
BUUUT, whenever the car isn't on choke, or moving forward the light comes on, when I'm idling, reversing at running temperature the light comes on, I believe there might be a fueling issue, I've noticed when idling at running temperature, just before the light comes on, it sounds like it's gasping, any ideas and possibly the location of the fuel rail before I start ripping stuff off
2004/2005 2.4 Alphard
Thanks

I have a 2005 2.4 Toyota alphard, my 02 sensor has gone on the 2nd cat, I don't really want to spend £181 at the moment, just after Christmas, everything is abit tight

Get an Ancel JP700 scanner or any other make that has the JOBD protocol, a lot of people fit universal 02 sensors where they have to wire the pins to suit the vehicle, that could be why your wiring is a mess, look for a Denso or Blueprint or FebiBilstein sensor
I have a brand new 1 on its way from Toyota, it should be arriving quite soon, jp700, hopefully this will work with my MK4 supra, having a spot of bother with this as well 😒

the 2nd cat was fitted on the 2.4L to comply with the cold start emissions test which is not part of the uk mot
In theory this could be removed and have no effect on MOT

Hi, recently had a similar problem.Towed our caravan back from Cornwall, the engine light came on, stopped for a few minutes started up light went out and stayed out until I had to put more power on an incline on the A30, light came on.Same problem as before so a careful drive home,no more light, but notice fuel consumption had increased.
Used the Alphard solo a few times after and same problem. Asked around and read Hand book which suggested oxygen/fuel ratio sensor may need replacing. Replaced it, the one before the 2nd Cat,much better, but still came on on occasions. Then the wife noticed a rattle from the exhaust, onto the 4 poster and found a rattle from the 2nd Cat.which sounded like the internals had disintegrated.Had a complete S/S exhaust fitted[Described and as shown in my recent post]. Couldn't fit a new after Cat sensor, as the new one I received had a wiring harness that was too short. When I get time I'll take off the old one and splice the old wiring onto the new wiring.
What I have found out since is that the 02-08 Alphards have 2 cats. One as part of the exhaust manifold, and one 1/3 of the distance from the front, this is because of the very strict polution laws in Japan.
Hope this helps.
That literally sums up my experience, I will check everything you've mentioned, I thought the rattle might of been the VVTI , but didn't think of the exhaust, I will check, thank you

Hope everyone is well, I'm having a small issue with my 2.4 2005 Alphard, I keep getting the engine management light on after 10/30mins of driving, and a horrible smell in the cab, like exhaust fumes and runs little rough, having trouble getting it on a reader, i believe it could be the O2 sensor, it's looks like a £40 wonder off eBay and the wiring is something to be desired, I have a feeling it's getting hot/ operating temperature and cutting out as it's no genuine and butchered, has anyone had this before and what reader do you recommend, I have a few jap imports and would benefit from one

Yep - mine is a May 2005 facelift model (must be one of the first I would imagine) and has the little 'kerb' mirror on the wing.
No mine hasn't got one, I'm trying to find the trim level of it
