Hey all, I've got a 2012 Alphard which is the nuts! My dad has an 05 Alphard and we were comparing the 2. His version has the regular auto box which has a dipstick for transmission fluid. Mine has the new CVT 'sports' transmission but it has no dipstick. Does this mean that its lifetime fluid and I don't have to do anything? I am fairly particular with servicing and making sure my vehicle runs right so would love to know more about this box.Β
Also I usually knock it into neutral when I stop at traffic lights etc. Am I doing the right thing or is it just more wear on the box having to go into N and back to D?
Β
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this. I know there are similar threads on the older box but haven't seen anything on the CVT one.
Β
Many thanks ππ

OK, it did seem to sort itself out last time so hopefully it will again. I will try the process in the video although mine is push start it may still work. It seems like a legit reason for doing it. I wanted to be sure it wasn't an engine or ecu issue but that does help, thanks guys π

Hey folks, I have just had to put a new battery in my Alphard after the last one died. Luckily I had a spare which was bigger than the dead one. I noticed that when stopping at junctions etc the idle speed was really low and felt like it was going to cut out. I have since replaced the spare battery for a nice new one and it's doing the same thing. I did my research and purchased what i believe to be the correct one (Yuasa 5005 580a 65ah). With the 1st battery swap the idle issue did go away after a couple of days driving so I am hoping it will again now the new battery is fitted. Anyone know why this is happening? Hopefully it will fix itself again but still curious of the cause.

Yes please do. I'm sure a few of us would be interested if you found a way to do it π

Ian24 it's a 2.4, I was eyeing up a hybrid but was just a bit too expensive at the moment. This model has the 7 speed sports automotive and an eco mode so doesn't seem as bad on fuel as I thought. I've kept my fuel receipt so when I get back down to a quarter tank I will work out what mpg I achieved.Β
Just had the undersealing done so that's one less thing to worry about. (See before and after below). Still need to do the oil change, any recommendations for what oil I should use?

Thanks guys, yes the colour and leather is what attracted me to this one. Quite rare I think. They are leather covers but you'd never know! I will have a look for the rear headrest, had no idea it was tucked away in the back. Think 3 in the back would be a bit of a squeeze tho!
Thanks for the filter location Chris π

Hey guys, I am new to the forum, just picked up my 2012 Alphard at the weekend, ah20 I believe?Β
Over the moon with it. Just wondered if there is anything interesting I should know, issues to look out for or any general info that people think I should know about with this model.
My dad has an 05 so I am fairly familiar with Alphards. He is pretty jealous right now π
I am the 1st uk owner so I have changed the spark plugs and air filter, cabin filter is in the post and I will be doing the oil and filter soon. Is the oil filter towards the back of the engine? Assuming its relatively easy to access once I'm underneath?
Also I am booked in with a local garage to get it undersealed (Β£120).Β
Would very much appreciate your knowledge and opinions.
Also feel free to comment on my van good or bad its all welcome π

I posted this in a Facebook group a while back. I was looking to buy an Alphard but wanted to remap to reduce fuel costs and unlock a bit of power. I was assured that it was a waste of time due to the type of engine. The chap I was speaking with said his son worked at a garage that did remapping and said its a waste of time. Would love to hear some other opinions though....
