  1. Check the links in this thread And this is the sort of kit you will need - but maybe not from this seller (bad feedback) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008165157365.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.22.23f665eaADLb8i&algo_pvid=9cb4957b-5bd7-435d-8ae7-a078562b1a39&algo_exp_id=9cb4957b-5bd7-435d-8ae7-a078562b1a39-21&pdp_ext_f={"order"%3A"2"%2C"eval"%3A"1"}&pdp_npi=6%40dis!GBP!161.21!104.79!!!1492.66!970.23!%40210390c917544355399951928e8c4e!12000044055741225!sea!UK!2324886173!X!1!0!&curPageLogUid=qHQHOR9Z2MvQ&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch|query_from%3A
  2. Hi, yours looks the same as mine (also 2014): 18 speakers is the Home Theatre option. Yes - that is the original screen in the roof, but it won't work (assuming it's OK) without some wiring modifications. I haven't done this myself as yet but plan to. First thing - if the original amp is still fitted under the passenger seat, you will need an adapter to make it work as the oem worked on a coax system. Second thing - take a picture of the loom plugs for the original head unit and post it here: two variants exist, think yours will be the very long plug (so to determine which type of converter kit you will need). Third thing - does the head unit you fitted have CANBUS?
  3. Hi, mine is a 2014 MY - I get (driving it carefully) more like 39mpg on a mixed journey of town/fast A-road and Motorway (approx 30 mile round trip) to work & home again. Mpg is better in town as that's where the Hybrid part comes into it's own. Over 40mpg on a long motorway run (again careful driving). Local Toyota dealership to me doesn't touch imports, so will book it in with Jemca for major work that I can't do* unless I can find local independent. Insured via Adrian Flux - super expensive so won't use them when it's renewal time. Try Lancaster Insurance - heard good feedback about them. Do check the vehicle very thoroughly - maybe use AA or RAC unless buying from a solid-feedback reseller. Some cars are coming in that have been cosmetically worked on to cover-up significant damage. Do work out what exactly you want as a must-have's option-wise as there are many vehicles to choose from, and by no means are they all the same. I for-instance wanted the 360 degree cameras, hands-free and 18 speaker (home theatre) options**, this cut down the possible candidates by around 60%. Don't hesitate to walk away if you think there is a problem unless you know you can fix it - parts are available, but have to be ordered in from Japan so are not too cheap and have a few weeks lead time. Drive a few so you get a feel for how they run - not everyone likes the CVT gearbox. Small but but worth knowing point if you plan to change the head unit for an android one - the CVT gear change selector assy and centre facia panel is different on the Hybrid's to the non-hybrids: some aftermarket head units come with a whole new facia panel - this will need modifying (cutting/filing) to make it fit (don't ask me how I know this...). Lots of how-to YouTube videos on these - 'TC's anything Go's' is a good source. Also check out the 'Car Care Nut' Do be sure to perform the oil service etc at less than the stated intervels if you plan to keep it, and always use genuine filters (not expensive) Good luck finding the right one for you - they are fantastic vehicles. Oh - BTW, the next iteration (30) Hybrid model has much better fuel economy, but there is a big hike in purchase cost to get hold of one. *such as the transmission flush/oil change ** and wish I had looked for one with adaptive cruse control too, but never mind 🙂
  4. @yoyo920 - does your original HU have a long plug like the one in this thread?
  5. Hi John, yes - well the volume / track I tested worked OK, but then the HU was partially setup already by DUDUAUTO. My Alphard is a late 2014 Hybrid and has the very long plug for the power and audio plus the steering wheel button sensing wires - yours could be different: it could be two things, the sensing wires are not connected, or you need to program the HU to recognise the buttons. Did you get any instructions? - mine has a QR code which allegedly linked to the instructions: couldn't located them....
  6. Slight update - point 2 is nothing to do with the HU swap: more a feature of the car when turning it on/off without the brake depressed, so anyone reading this can ignore this point. I've made a reasonable attempt at re-cutting the facia to fit the Hybrid selector / position legends and tried again - still can't get the factory 360 cameras to work & unfortunately the 360 camera setup is not part of the main wiring diagrams for the Hybrid model. So the factory HU is back in for now. I've ordered a 16 pin connector from Aliexpress (as the adapter loom doesn't have this) and some other bits for the factory microphone - will try again when the parts arrive.
  7. Hi Gerald, Best guess is neither of them - I think the two sockets on the top LH are the power in and speaker outputs, and both of those loom's you picture are for the 18 speaker / home theater equipped cars (but for different head units) which have different sockets and the MOST converter (the expensive box with the label) to interface the factory external audio amp. Are there any speakers in the headlining on your Vellfire? if not, I think you need this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006851477450.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.6.3f4148a51t2G3L&algo_pvid=cc97d0d8-8741-49ee-864f-85e1b2e982ac&algo_exp_id=cc97d0d8-8741-49ee-864f-85e1b2e982ac-5&pdp_ext_f={"order"%3A"33"%2C"eval"%3A"1"}&pdp_npi=4%40dis!GBP!3.59!3.59!!!33.41!33.41!%402103956b17467993634286885e316a!12000038516047136!sea!UK!2324886173!X&curPageLogUid=TtMaSPsYcBFr&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch|query_from%3A But unsure if you need the CANBUS adapter (small box) version or not. Maybe others can advise?
  8. @Laurence - the adapter cable you need is the one for series 30 model as this has the long socket not on the earlier models. This caries most of the signals. You will need a MOST adapter as well, oh and you Android HU must include CANBUS support Adapter cable - FXZJ-00-00182 MOST adapter is labelled "For Alphard / IS250 ES/GS" Noting that this setup as it stands doesn't make the rear monitor work, and doesn't use the in-built microphone (if fitted) I've opted for top spec DUDUAUTO model 7 and am in the process of working out what I need to do to make the above work before I start ripping out the factory unit.
  9. Hi Dave_R thank you for the quick reply - my car has the 360 cameras / Park Assist which has a blue plug, and I'm pretty certain this is what's needed to feed the video to the Android HU I have going by the post by Threepot in Dave Murrell's Roof Monitor thread and another post by Chris.ac re the factory HU socket identification. Now I have the details, I'll search Aliexpress for the best price 🙂
  10. @Dave_R - do you have a better picture of the GVIF to RCA video adapter or can tell me what the model number is? I think I will need one of these as my car has the 360 cameras / parking assist.
  11. So, in the end I opted for the expensive one, however my advice at the moment is to hold-off buying any alternate HU for the Hybrid version, unless others have had a better experience. Initial issues are: 1) the at the replacement facia has cut-outs for the non-hybrid gear selector and indicators so needs cutting / modifying to make it fit. 2) first trial fit (without mod to facia) is the car emits a continuous beep when I try to lock it, so looks like there maybe an interaction with the central locking / factory alarm - no time to look at this further at the moment, 3) Factory 360 camera not working, but this may be my fault / not hooked-up correctly
  12. Hi Again - there is an error in my post of 11th April. The Audio connector is the bottom LH one - the one I originally identified as Audio is an aerial / antenna socket. Interestingly, the connector immediately next to the very large one is not used in my Alphard (Hybrid 2014 model).
  13. Hi Carl, Sorry - life got in the way again: on the HU I have (model 56107) it's straight forward - top LH physical button brings up the settings menu - at the top of the screen on the RH side there is a touch button called General Settings, and under that menu the "Auto Return to Nav Screen" option is the third from top (with off/on selection). If you have an Android phone, use Google Translate / phone camera, it works very well for both screen and written pages. HTH
  14. Gamith is correct - there is (in one for the settings menus) an option that is set to 'on' for the SatNav: I had this same issue myself and found it after a search. The settings button is the top LH one. If you have an Android phone use Google Translate to look through the options - if I get a chance I'll look at mine tomorrow
  15. Hi, So, that looks identical to the head unit in my 2014 Hybrid - does yours have the 18 speaker sound system as well? If it has, I am (as sure as I can be) that you don't need the MOST adapter in the second picture (more for the OP's info than you Hardi) - that's for alternated HU's that don't have the MOST control built in (i.e. an Android HU). From another thread on here on no sound issues, I think the top connector next to the one labelled FM 75 ohm with the 4 round co-ax type is the MOST audio bus that connects the amplifier and the rear screen sound - this is a loop system so if there are any breaks in it the audio doesn't work. Sorry no idea on the steering wheel controls, but I may have in a few weeks when my Android HU arrives with all the cables....
