Please advise on this problem I have with my 2005 Alphard, it is driving my wife mad, she can't open her door until I press the unlocking button on my side, which of course is out of reach for her, being on my door only. many thanks if you have the answer to my Pauline's tutting and huffs and puffs.

Hi Colin this is normal on my alphie, has she tried unlocking the unlock button by her door handle this goes into the locked position when driving

You can have doors unclocked when parked in P, here are the steps

 

1. Ignition ON

2. Change to P

3. Press and hold door unlock button for about 5 seconds

thanks for the replies Mike and Nov, yesterday a package dropped through my letter box, it was the Alphard owners manual, and I found the door locking section and finally worked it out, just as Nov has said above, and now Pauline is happy again, its interesting that you cant actually deactivate the passenger door lock by simply clicking over the lock button on that door, it remains locked solid, that is until you follow the procedure to reprogram the locks as Nov explains above.

I wonder what else there is to find?    I only found the switch for the forward facing cameras a few days ago, they are superb once you polish them up with Tcut, but rubbish if left dirty

Hey Colin, Welcome to the Forum.

 

My HDD screen is a little darker than I would like, so, especially, on a sunny day, the camera images are quite dim.

I haven't tried to clean the lenses yet.

 

Reading this has prompted me to try a gentle Tcut on the lenses to see what difference that makes.

 

Thanks for the idea.

 

I am still looking for a method of increasing the HDD unit brightness, if anyone knows how I would greatly appreciate some help.

Which door unlock button? On the door, dash or remote? Does this work for the side doors too?

It's the driver door main button taking care of all doors.

 

 

Jesus what a gumby...I thought this was for the windows..🙄   cheers!

Nov I've done this & it had the same effect as just pressing it once...should anything happen after 5 secs - ie noises, clicks or anything flashing on the dash? Do I have to do this before every journey?

Your doors locks should close and open to confirm programming, it's tricky to get it right.

Another option is to use Techstream- Toyota software(available to download online) and switch the door autolocking when driving to OFF completely.

This works a treat, thanks guys.

 

I can advise that when youve pressed the unlock button for long enough and let go it does a quick lock/unlock cycle.  Not sure if getting out and locking/unlocking with the key is necessary but thats what I did.
