ABS light

Recommended Posts

Hi I’m new to Alphards. We bought ours 3 months ago. The ABS brake light is on permanently . We took it to our local garage . They could not diagnose problem,  due it it being an import. We live in Huntingdon.  Any recommendations for a Alpahard Garages in the Cambridgeshire area.

Hello GSM,

Welcome to the Forum.

I am sure you will receive some very useful suggestions from fellow members.

Check tyre pressures, tyres all have similar wear, all all the same type; and many others.

However, I did want to point out that although many Toyota Official dealers will not work on Grey Import vehicles; some will.

It is worth checking whether you local Toyota Dealer is one of them; just as a backstop.

Good luck

If you can get a scanner that is a JOBD (japanese protocol) you can see if there are any codes that wil give an indication of what is wrong, usually it will be one of the sensors or a dirty sensor ring or even a corroded connector on the wiring loom under neath

The rear off-side sensor showed up as faulty on my V6 3L Alphard so I had it replaced with a rather expensive genuine part.... Still showing ABS & Brake light ... Is the sensor ring castellated or magnetic?

Frame no. MNH15-0006925

Thank you in advance..

I have no idea about the sensor ring as never looked at mine, did the person that replaced the sensor clear the fault codes?

Hi dezufo....

Yes... Cleared them several times but same fault kept popping up..

Having done some more searching both on here and Google it seems the sensor ring may well be the culprit... It's the castellated type and I'm just about to order a new one...

I'll report back once the job is done.

Thank you for your  response.👍

Replying to my own post....

It seems the castellated abs ring is not a separate item on this model so my garage man is now doing some further investigating while I'm considering a replacement driveshaft...

Update..... Worth noting....

Having searched unsuccessfully for a replacement reluctor ring I decided to buy a complete driveshaft from a breakers yard in Tokyo....

It arrived in just 10 days and has been fitted and what's more .....

The fault has at last gone.

Now I have discovered a company in Lincolnshire who not only stock reluctor rings but also can make them to order..

I have sent my old broken ring and will post back on here when I hear from them regarding availability and cost... I've attached 2 pictures of the broken ring... Difficult to spot until it was ooened up...

👍
