I bought some off ebay.

 

Be sure to get the correct frequency. About £15

 

Toyota Alphard 05-09 Remote Car Key Fob with 4D67 Chip 314.3MHz 4Buttons.

 

Getting it programmed can be quite a challenge.

Toyota dealers won't do it.

You will need a competent auto locksmith and expect to pay £80 each !

 

Not cheap, but mine work perfectly.

 

These are not the Smart Key fobs.

not applicable to your situation may be but if anyone importing car, I believe you can request an extra key made there itself for about 150 usd

Right an update, after ringing around and being quoted from £65 to £150 pounds, so I bought a four door blank for eBay for £18.99, followed the instructions on how to program it myself, it works a treat

I was going to ask if anyone done remote start key? But I'll start new thread for that as it is a topic in itself.

gen 2 key programming takes less than 6mins via techstream, you need at least one working 'key'

Thanks Chris, highly knowledgeable as always 👍

 

This seems to be talking about it ^..I'll look more into it and what all is needed, where to get empty key etc.

Update, I had a key cut today, it turns the engine over but won’t start it, anyone got any ideas why this could be?

Yes. You need an autolocksmith AND a master key.

 

Mine worked fine after the locksmith worked his magic !

 

He also made all my other keys masters ! Or so he said.

 

My guess is your key was cut, but it seems the immobilser is still active.

Do the four buttons work ? Lock, unlock, electric doors ?

 

When you get someone to program it, check that all functions work before paying for the work !

Thanks Rojie, all the buttons work and the engine turns over just won’t start, I’m almost there I think😁

immobiliser - you transponder in the key has not been linked to the ecu

 

to be clear, there are two ecu involved, one related to the button operations, another for the security

Where did you get your key cut? Was it a specialist or your corner Timpsons?

Getting the key cut is the very easy part.

It is the programming that is the tricky bit !

 

Timsons cut mine, but couldn't / wouldn't program it.

 

I found a local auto locksmith and all done correctly.

I can PM you the company, but it is geographically close to me; WSM may be too far for them.

Hi,

Continuing with this as I've reached a strange impasse with my key....

I have 2 genuine Gen 1 Toyota keys with 4 buttons, 1 Grey master key with no electrics, and a fob with 3 buttons for lock/unlock/boot.

Everything works as it should.

1 of the keys with 4 buttons has worn out, and the buttons are falling out.

I've bought 1 key off ebay which is a blade blank attached to the back plastic shell-an empty shell with 4 new buttons on.

I've removed the innards of the working key and put it all inside the empty shell, and had the blank blade cut to the working key.

Tried today and the engine turns over, but won't start. All the buttons on the new shell work.

Any ideas?

Timpson corporate policy is to refuse to cut customer supplied blanks. Think Rojie must have been lucky with the branch he used or their policy has changed since he had his keys cut.
