Probable already well known, but if you are keeping the 100v sockets in the back, rather than changing one for usb, you can get a plug in for £3.59 on eBay.

This is exactly what I had in my mind and was going to order 100v usb multi plug from Japan but if a quality one available in UK itself, why not. I'm wary of cheap ebay ones, the last thing we need in car is fire from overheated electronics. But this is simple and best option. Why bother doctoring things unnecessarily. This add on if it fails, you can get another one, no surgery needed
