Hi, where is the jacking point on the back end of the Alphard

Hi Darren,

The 4 jack points on our Alphard are on each sill, to the rear of the front wheels and to the front of the rear wheels. I had to change a wheel at the roadside after a puncture on the first long trip out - found it hard work using the standard jack because of the additional weight of the campervan conversion, so decided to add a hydraulic jack to the kit after that....

the rear central jack point is an extrusion near the spare wheel carrier, marked with the round crosshatch in diagram.

On mine the sill was previously damaged / squashed by a swing arm lift using the points shown on the diagram. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Going to be spraying underbody protection in the next couple of weeks so glad to find out the position of jacking points, and I'm assuming that safety stands are another name for Axle stands?.

Hi Chris.ac. I see you have a 3.5 Alphard. I have a 3.5, V6 Alphard on a 2008 plate. I need a rear bumper and and brakes all round. Any ideas where these can be located?

Bumper, you could try secondhand, probably easier to join some alphard UK Facebook groups and ask. 

 

Brake pads, any motor factor/parts centres (except Halfords, you'll just get frustrated beyond the point any reasonable person deserves) 

 

The brakes/discs are common with multiple Toyota.

Worrying technical comment from the Alphard owner's handbook; in the event of a rear puncture, you should not fit the spare get home wheel to the rear of the vehicle as it may cause problems with your rear transmission and damage the  transmission due to the sensors. Their advice is to take a front wheel and put it on the back and then put the get home wheel on to the front.

Does anyone know if this is applicable to all models (both 4 and front wheel drive?)

I doubt it applies to the front wheel drive cars as they have no rear transmission.

 

Which page are you referring to ?

So we can read about it and decide whether it applies to 4wd and Hybrids

About 5 weeks ago I had a puncture on the nearside back wheel and I had the skinny wheel spare put in its place, on my Hybrid. Then drove home the 37 miles at roughly at  50mph. Then had the puncture repaired the following day, no problem

Hello Beverley,

 

In my opinion, you are very unlikely to have a LSD fitted.

 

If you send your VIN (or registration) to Picasso he can probably check for you.

 

Interestingly, this infprmation is not on page 312 of the JPNZ Owners Manual that I have.

The manual I have looked at is FRO 3035, which explains the difference in page numbers !

I have the same manual as Beverly if it helps the paragraph states as follows limited slip diff fitted vehicles do not fit the spare tyre to the rear wheel if a rear tyre is punctured fit the spare tyre to a front wheel and fit the front tyre to the rear wheel if the spare tyre is fitted to a rear wheel the lsd will operate constantly even during normal driving and the lsd will be damaged when a spare tyre is fitted the vehicle speed may not be detected correctly so the following systems may not work normally abs.    Brake assist.   Vsc and trc. Radar cruise control.   Lane monitoring system the following systems not only cannot operate properly but may have negative influence on the diving system parts also full time 4wd
