Wozzer100uk Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 Hi all, New to Alphards and we have just discovered them and fallen for one at a local dealer. It's 2007 ,64000 miles with a great brand new conversion. Being new to them we are unsure on the price it is which is £26000. We know that we could buy one and get it converted but this will I guess take alot of time and the one we have seen is pretty much ready to go, so will pay a premium for that. Have looked online for others for sale and but still unsure on the price. Any advice would be appreciated to see if it's worth it. Thanks Mark and Becky
Oddcouple Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Price feels about right. And with a Northstar conversation you have a really well converted van. The conversion you have is about £9400 so I guess you could buy a van a little cheaper and then wait for conversion, but as you say, you don’t mind paying a bit over for a ‘ready to go’ van.
Wozzer100uk Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 Hi Odd couple, Thanks for the reply. That makes us feel better, it's alot of money and not having much knowledge of the vans it's hard to know if the price is right. I looked at the company who did the conversion and looks like quality work. Cheers.
Picasso Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Looks a lovely conversion but if I remember nma only do 2.4 engines which is only a 4 speed gear box i personally be looking at a 3.0 which is 5 speed and a bit more power .

Thanks Picasso, yes it's a 2.4. Have researched that and I see some people don't mind the 2.4 and others say not good. Got a test drive this week, it's just the 2 of us who will be using it.

The auto is OK too; but the combination is a bit thirsty. On a long journey the benefit from a 5 speed is noticeable. Some owners go for LPG conversions. With the price of petrol now it is worth considering the type of miles you will be covering (and your driving style) Either way, the Alphies are a very nice ride

We won't be doing very long journeys in it to be honest. Yes we have looked at the LPG conversions for the future. I guess the question I need to work out is, the van conversion is superb and it's ready to go. We could maybe spend a while trying to find a 3.0 and save some money on fuel and have abit more go. We have a decision to make as test driving tomorrow.
Oddcouple Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Should also have said, if you were buying without pop top, you’d be looking at another 3 or 4k on top of the conversion price… 1

I have a 2.4 54 plate and it's had ample power for me on some pretty treacherous roads and it sits very comfortably win the motorway at 80mph with a full load of camping crap. The V6 does make a better sound though.

And we have really fallen in love with the Alphard now. Cheers Edited June 13, 2022 by Wozzer100uk 1
