Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone can help? We will be getting our new Alphard in a few weeks time. We have been told there is only one towbar which will fit the Alphard, is this true? The other question is, does anyone know if there is a basic standard spec for all Alphards? Thanks for the help.

Hi RonH,

We got ours (used for a bike rack) from PCT Automotive in Sheffield [0114 251 1000] - their model no. for Alphard 2002-07 is TY3565. I notice your Alphard is 2008, so it may not be the same tow bar model, but you could contact them to see....

I believe all tow bars can be fabricated for any car, if you go to a good tow bar shop they should be able to take a look underneath and fabricate exactly what you want. I had one where i could remove it but simply undoing one bolt and then it was hidden away. This was on my old Lexus.

Hi pcous,

Did you have the tow bar fitted professionally, and can you say who they were please ? Really struggling to find anyone to do this.

Thanks.

Hi Eamonn,

Our tow bar was fitted professionally as part of the campervan conversion by Wellhouse, Barnsley. I notice that PCT Automotive provide fitting instructions on their website which you can download, so if you don't have a local Alphard expert I would guess that a garage that specialises in fitting towbars for any vehicle would be able to use these instructions. Good luck!

I was advised to be very careful about what is towed because alphards have not been rated for towing and don't have a code on the VIN that insurance companies ask about if there have been any claims due to a towing incident. I'd definitely appreciate any input on this as I've had a tow bar fitted for taking my motorbike trailer
