Middle Row of Seats

Recommended Posts

I noted on the first edition, the seats could be rotated, this facility has been removed on the second edition. However on the non-electrical 7 seater, is it possible to remove the seats and place them back in reverse so all four passenger seats face each other, they share the same rails and I could do this on an Espace I used to have.

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the Forum.

It can certainly be done on the Gen 1, but the Gen 2 has different middle seats; the lounging type.

Even on the Gen 1 it certainly isn't a particularly easy job.

AND, if your middle seats do not have lap belts it will fail the MOT.

Send me a PM if you wish to know more.

Seat belts are integrated fully into individual seats, so no issues facing backwards, just not sure if it can be done and if so, will they still slide.

I have just been looking at some photos on Autotrader.

One van had the one and a half plus one middle seats. Perhaps they swivel.

I looked at other vans and all seem to have the shoulder strap entering the B pillar.

Are you saying on your model the shoulder strap is secured into the seat (rather than the B pillar ?

I haven't bought yet, but was looking at the version 2 (08-15) in the 7 seat version and the middle row 2 seats have the belts fully integrated into the seats. So I assumed on the non-electric middle row seat versions the seats were reversible (lift them out of the rails, turn them around and put them back in so they can face backwards). I know they don't swivel as they stopped that at the end of version 1 in 2008.

This is an interesting idea. Did you actually try it?

Like I said, I haven't purchased an Alphard/Vellfire yet, hence the question to members on the 2nd version technical forum.
