2008 Alphard MNH10 Headlight Unit starting to collect condensation. Do the units have vents?

2008 Alphard MNH10, Headlight Unit starting to collect condensation.

The nearside headlight unit, ( the side with the battery right behind the unit) which was pristine only a few months ago when I bought the vehicle, now has condensation starting to collect at the top of the unit. Obviously with the cooler weather now and the lights being on are perfect conditions to cause this, but why only one side?

Questions:

1. Do these headlight units have a vent, which if blocked doesn't allow airflow removing condensation, if so any help to identify the vent would be appreciated?🙂

2. Has anyone had success removing condensation from these units, if so how?

Thanks to everyone in advance. 😀

Hi and Welcome to the club

Headlight units are sealed, they will need taking apart and re-sealing. You may find a company who could do it.

Only in the summer do they look fine bt will get worse over the winter.

New head lights are expensive, so best to either fix or ignore or buy used (could have same issue)

Many thanks for the quick response Steve. Will fix as it will eventually discolour. Great to find an Alphard Club.

on older vehicle's I have owned, there was a rubber vent tube, usually with a small mesh over the end, sometimes a friendly spider will clog it up.

I don't have access to a 10 series, I wonder if you can get some desiccant in a small bag and tie it to some thread and place into unit?
