Hi,

after driving for 30 minutes the engine warning light comes on in my 2004 2.4 Alphard, it goes out after the vehicle has cooled down.

I’ve tried to use my cheap OBD scanner to read the fault code and lay local garage couldn’t read it with theirs.

I’m thinking general air flow issue, oxygen sensor or Mass air flow sensor.

Has anybody experienced a similar issue?

Does anybody have any ideas, or know where I can get a relatively cheap OBD scanner to read the fault code?

thanks very much

Lee

Hi John, I was looking for the OBD11 port on my 2002 Alphard 3.0 and at first couldn't find it, even when I had been told where it was ! But now I do know where it is - if you put your hand under the plastic dash below the steering wheel - a little to the left of the steering wheel - it is just under the edge of the plastic lower panel - easier to feel than to see, but once you have got it - it is a white plastic socket, and then becomes easy to find again. regards, Graham.

I wouldn't spend more than necessary on an OBD reader. If you have an Android phone, get one of these for a few quid and the free 'Car Scanner' app from Play Store.

It helped me solve a number of problems on Jap import motors over the years, but crucially a mis-wired O2 sensor, knock sensor and MAP sensor issue on my 2002 Alphard.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

And yes..... the reader port is above the handbrake pedal, under the dash.
