I have parking sensors, so don't need to use this little mirror, but if you practice, you can use it to check your nearside bumper is clear of the vehicle in front, so you can make much tighter parallel parking manoeuvres. 

 

I used some old drinks bottle filled with water to simulate a parked car, and tested it. 

 

You'll be surprised by how much room you have.
