What is the best magnetic awning strip to use with Toyota alphard with pop top and are they any good

Hi Jim

The best magnetic strips are from Lidl.

They are about 12" long and are meant to hold tools in the garage, cost less than £5.00 each but they are so powerful, they work very well holding fabric to the roof of the Camper.

I sewed in a couple of pockets in my awning so I could slide the magnets in, works very well and is hurricane proof!!

I am in the market for an awning and this looks like a brilliant connection method. How many strips did you buy from Lidl? I am reading that most awnings connect along 260 cm of the roof, but I'm guessing you didn't buy 13 magnets.

Hi Chajoma

I used just four of the magnets and sewed pockets in the edge of the awning, so that the magnets slotted in. They can be taken out when you remove the awning and stored away. You could just wrap the awning over the magnet if you can't sew any pockets, they are strong enough. The magnets are cherap enough, get as many as you can and see how many suit your needs.
