folding down seats.

Hi,everyone. i have 2005,alphy 2400 cc,reg, LK05 VEP.i have a rear fitted kitchen so have the 2 front seats and middle seats .to make the bed i need to fold flat the 2 middle seats .To do this i have to move the seats as far forward as poss so when i fold down the back rest the front of the middle seats are actually touching back of driver seat and pass seat.The problem is the 2 middle seats are split into indevidual seats 1 double seat and 1 single seat.Ican push forward the single to full extent but the double seat  stops short a few inches so will not lay flat sounds like it is hitting metal when it stops at max.please help thank you in advance.Phil.

there is a stop in the runner a square nut. If you turn the seats so they face backwards you should get them to fold down.

I can confirm this as my seats are nearly always in a rear facing position, it's much better if you have a rear conversion as 4/5 people can sit comfortably & socialise much better. I only face them forward when I need to carry more than one passenger for more than a few miles.

Absolutely agree you have to reverse the middle seats. 

My only gripe is I'd like to fold the backs of the front seats more forwards towards the dash rather than stop in the upright position. So I can recline with a good book (or someone who's read one) before going to sleep!

For those of us with rear kitchen conversions and beds using middle seats, just curious, do you sleep with your head at the engine end or the boot end? Also, how do you get on with the dips in the middle seats? Do you fill them with foam or something similar please?

 

I have to carry around foam blocks to fill the dips. It gives a good night's sleep but are very bulky to carry around.

We sleep our heads at the drivers end.

We have a PC / TV on the kitchen worktop when parked up in the evenings.

We have small mattresses that fold and fit under the table when en route.

We use our day cushions to even out the dip.

 

It's OK, but I have seen a stowable frame that fits on the seats and levels the bed out.

I may get one but am worried about stretching the leather with the concentrated weight load.

 

I also considered the type of cushions you seem to be referring to; wedged shaped for hospitals.

I normally drive with the rear curtains closed, so i would store the wedges on the kitchen worktop..

Thanks for your advice on this @Rojie My foam is indeed wedge shaped and I got it custom cut online but like I say, it's bulky. It's the only thing that annoys me about my rear kitchen set-up. I might look into the frame you mention. I have standard velour seats with leatherette aftermarket covers so I think I could try this with low risk.
