Hi all. Hope everyone is good.

My automatic Alphard has developed an issue with vibration and a loud rattle. This happens when I slow down to a stop when in drive and have my foot on the brake, I can feel a vibration and rattle. As soon as I move it goes away. It's worse then in reverse and I have to brake but still in reverse. It doesn't do it all the time and sods law didn't do it when I took the van to the dealer I got it from.

Any advice on the possible cause when be appreciated. Thanks

Take it back again.

Hopefully you will receive suggestions on what the problem is to improve your chances of getting it fixed by the seller.

If the seller is a business you will have Consumer Rights.

Thanks Rojie, sorry I should have said I've had the van 2 years now and no more warranty. I live very close to the dealer and just popped in for some advice. They are very helpful.

Hey Picasso, thanks I got it from them and took there today. They had a look but it didn't do it when I showed them but did when I got home. Was just looking anyone may have had a similar issue. Cheers

It's definitely coming from the rear, I have it booked in for a full service soon so will have my garage take a look.

The exhaust is visibility moving, and the noise sounds like the exhaust is tapping against something or a loose heat shield, if it has heat shields anywhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is something simple ie not expensive. If you slowly increase the engine revs when stationary does the noise go away ?

Cheers, It only happens when either in drive and I have my foot on the brake or in reverse but goes away when I move. In reverse I can feel the vibration in the whole van
