If you use jump leads you will still need to fully charge both batteries, so quite a long run will be needed, or a very long charge, preferably with a smart charger. It is likely that you will need to 'reset' the windows, and maybe the moon roof if you have one.
philip klein Posted Saturday at 02:32 PM Author Posted Saturday at 02:32 PM Thank you very much fori nfo.Kind regards.
Bob Taylor Posted Saturday at 02:55 PM Posted Saturday at 02:55 PM You may have to reset idle speed as well, you should find this info on the forum or youtube
starider Posted Sunday at 06:46 PM Posted Sunday at 06:46 PM Hi, as your Alphard is a camper. the answer could be what I use,we have a camper conversion which has a 12volt hook up point and a 12v cigarette lighter socket. The socket and the cigarette socket can be used to charge each battery in turn using either socket with a 12v trickle charger[mine were purchased from Toolstation].These can be left on and once the batteries are charged will trickle charge as and when. If you have a 230volt hook up you can use that to charge the leisure battery via the 12v socket I can only speak from my experience as I have, besides the camper,2 tractors,a Quad bike a lawn mower and shredder, each connected to one of these chargers and I haven't had a flat battery since using this method.I am now going to run leads via fuses from the main battery to an extra lighter socket in the dashboard area for trickle charging the main battery. Hope this helps and your time in hospital was successful.
starider Posted Sunday at 07:10 PM Posted Sunday at 07:10 PM PS. TOOLSTATION product code 17423. Forgot to say you will need a cigarette lighter plug to fit instead of the crocodile clips provided. A Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year to all Alphardians!

I have a CTEK smart charger that comes with a set of small crocodile clips that do have a detachable lead. If the crocodile leads are detached a set of leads with 'washers' attached (that will pass over bolts attached to the battery) can be attached. So, the plan was to attach the washer leads to the leisure battery, and use the croc leads to charge the starter battery when necessary. The washer leads would connect to the CTEK via an EHU and mains outlets in the van. I am ashamed to say, I never got around to the washer leads being attached to leisure battery. Maybe in spring !
