Ben23 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) Has anyone got the Car Scanner app to work on an AH10 (facelift)? It connects to my widget (vgate icar pro 2s, as recommended by Car Scanner's author) but says it can't find the ECU. I am using the JOBD JDM CAN profile. Torque Pro is able to connect to the ECU and show live data successfully using the Toyota JDM profile (same widget, so I know that works), but I want to use Car Scanner to get at the extra options. Cheers. Edited February 4 by Ben23

This asi a very common topic within the forum. It's an app called Car Scanner ELM OBD2. It has been recommended elsewhere on the forum, but those who got it working appear to have AH20 or later. I'm well aware of other options but I'm trying to get this specific app working. Thanks Edited February 4 by Ben23
Chris.ac Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Prior to 2008, many JDM Toyota do not use the standard CAN protocol. Try using the k-line protocol 1
smurf Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I can get car scanner to connect using the K line protocol on my 2003 Hybrid, but the data available is a very limited list of standard OBD information. Revs, coolant temp, throttle position, IAT, MAF, fuel trim and O2, off the top of my head. Torque pro seems much more customisable, but as yet I haven't struck it lucky by finding custom PIDs to get at what I really want - live hybrid data. I've tried different versions from similar vintage Prius and Lexus RH400 models with nothing working so far. My googling suggests nobody else has had any luck using anything other than techstream on the early hybrid.
Chris.ac Posted February 5 Posted February 5 There is a hybrid app based on prius which may work. Dr prius. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nexcell.app
smurf Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I tried Dr Prius and I can't get it to work either. There is something about the pre-facelift Alphard hybrid that seems to be different.

Try using the k-line protocol Thanks - I had tried that and bailed out of it when it didn't look like it was going to work, but I just needed to be more patient. After several minutes it finds the correct protocol. No Coding & Service menu option though, so doesn't look like it offers anything more than Torque after all. Looks like Techstream may be the only option for things like switching off beeps.

The 10 series didn't have as many modules installed, I'm not even sure you can change anything like auto light delay, or door beeps.
Lanciaman Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I couldn't with car scanner. Also, I couldn't get it to work with the jdm protocol, only on basic obd connection. Did give useful info on the fuel trims though.
