Victoria22 Posted Sunday at 03:36 PM Posted Sunday at 03:36 PM Hi there I'm new to this forum but hoping someone here would be able to to help me ! We have just recently bought our alphard 2.4 2008 and went to a few insurance companies who bounced us right back saying they couldn't insure us due to the vehicle being a japanese import. We did however find an insurer reasonably priced, entered our registration and full vehicle details but upon reading all the insurance documents they have sent us , they have listed it as a different model and I'm sure it's down for them as an 8 seater Aventis??? I am confused how this has happened and nervous that our insurance will become invalid considering the model they are listing is not the same as our Alphard ?? Has anyone else been in the same position and knows where we stand on this ? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to read! Victoria
dezufo Posted Sunday at 07:27 PM Posted Sunday at 07:27 PM Unfortunately some insurance companies are just complete jobs worths, the reason they won't insure imports is because of expensive or lack of body panels. Admiral are reasonably priced, then there is Adrian Flux or Mark Richards Insurance, the latter specialise in imports. What you need to do if you are going to stay with your insurance company is phone them and tell them that your vehicle is an Alphard and that there is no such vehicle as an eight seater Avensis, you need the paper work to show that it is an Alphard because then the company will not have a way out of not settling any claims 1
stopgapcat Posted Sunday at 08:08 PM Posted Sunday at 08:08 PM Howden Insurance probably also worth a try. These guys and Adrian Flux definitely know what an Alphard is! 1

Victoria Hello Victoria, Welcome to the Forum. There is a whole lengthy thread on Insurance. You can search from the top rhs of your home page. If yours is not a camper conversion it just needs a little persistence; preferably avoiding the on-line quote engines. 1
Michael Brown Posted Sunday at 10:56 PM Posted Sunday at 10:56 PM Through Howden Insurance, I am with Aviva. Like with all insurance companies, Age, where you keep it and any accidents you may have had in the last 5 years, and good luck 1
Jenny Smedley Posted Monday at 06:23 AM Posted Monday at 06:23 AM (edited) Aviva were the best we could find after Churchill dumped us for no reason after 4 years with them of no claims. Edited Monday at 06:23 AM by Jenny Smedley 1
Rojie Posted Monday at 07:40 AM Posted Monday at 07:40 AM I am still with Aviva (on other vehicles), but they did fail to renew when I had the conversion done. 1
