As the car had a replacement Android head unit in the ATH20 that wasn't working, I proceeded to swap it for one I had with carplay and looked around to see how it tapped into the speakers. Based on the info from this forum, I counted 17 speakers and a subwoofer under the drivers seat. I see the android head unit plug containing the speaker lines connected to a brown connector which I assume is part of a bypass cable leading to the area under the passenger seat. I haven't gone around testing what speakers emit sound although I have read the subwoofer is not used.

I'm curious how the 18 speakers were used in the oem and whether the subwoofer can be reused or connected to the subwoofer output of the Android headunit. I see aliexpress sell large head units. Would these use the full 18 speakers?

More investigation.. Piecing together the capability of this car and I suspect it has a screen mounted on the roof. I can't be sure as its flush and may just be a blanking plate. I'll try and post an image.

Hi, yours looks the same as mine (also 2014): 18 speakers is the Home Theatre option.

Yes - that is the original screen in the roof, but it won't work (assuming it's OK) without some wiring modifications. I haven't done this myself as yet but plan to.

First thing - if the original amp is still fitted under the passenger seat, you will need an adapter to make it work as the oem worked on a coax system.

Second thing - take a picture of the loom plugs for the original head unit and post it here: two variants exist, think yours will be the very long plug (so to determine which type of converter kit you will need).

Third thing - does the head unit you fitted have CANBUS?

I took a picture but in all honesty I may not have grabbed the wiring that was deeper inside, so may need to snap another better picture.

No canbus on my headunit, just a generic set of connectors as seen on many. The picture below is from the one that was playing up, replacement just had a few more additional connectors for 4G. Steering wheel controls worked.

Interesting to see the amount of space under the seat. Kind of looks like I could squeeze a diesel heater there.
