I have a strange problem with my alphard AH20 2008 2.4 Petrol. Will try to explain what happens.

When on cruise, the car encounters a moderate hill the gears change down and the revs rise considerably. Today ex. From 1500 to c 3500. On the same hill when cruise off box changes normally revs increase by 1500 to 2200. If on the hill when cruise switched off when revs high they drop to 2200.

Anyone had this issue or know where to start looking.

It sounds like the car has come from overdrive to 4th or possibly 3rd. Or even more possible you were in 4th at the time and not in D. I think the car was not in overdrive when you were not using cruise.

Transmissions on the alphard i find are not the most sophisticated, everyone i have had has its own characteristics

A good fluid and filter change always helps. not saying this is the solution but always recommend they should be done on a car of this age.

Hi thank you again for your previous reply. I double checked today the Gearbox is A Cvt and has 7 gears no overdrive. But again thanks for helping.
