@Dave_R You are a savior . I just installed an android head unit with the same canbus box and had only 2 issues. Audio not working and the back camera (that came with the head unit) not kicking in when putting the car in reverse. Thanks to you, audio issue sorted quite quickly as I was getting worried about potential wiring hell I may have to go into. Mine is also the simple one (not the 18 speaker system) and do not have the back screen either. I bought the android head unit with the 360 camera system, cameras are all working great. Just need to get them fitted properly as my Vellfire did not come with any cameras except the reverse one. This means opening up all door panels, removing wing mirrors, drilling holes in them for the aftermarket side cameras as well as fitting one in the front grill too This camera fitting seems more than I can handle I think so might book with someone although no one these days likes to do a partial job as it makes less money for them Lets see. But apart from that really happy with the head unit, really simple plug n play with the canbus box. Can't go too wrong with the wiring with that (except for the silly audio mistake obviously, I had put Aux in to Aux in not thinking it should be going out from the head unit). All steering controls worked out of the box as soon as you setup canbus and tell the car model (I had to select Alphard). Everything else like GPS, 4G Sim and android auto works great. Might disable android auto alltogether to be honest as its a full fledge android system on its own so I can just install the apps I want and just use the BT for calls with phone unless someone convinces me otherwise . All in all, very happy with the purchase. I have an 8GB/256GB system with the ADAS front recorder and the 360 camera system. Cost me £167 for the head unit (with AliExpress amazing sales). The only problem or slight issue I had was that the seller made me purchase a separate canbus box (£70 again in sales) and that came earlier than the head unit and when the head unit arrived, it also had the canbus box in it 😶 So now I have an extra canbus box which I will keep if the one with the unit breaks down ever.

Just to update, I asked one of the sellers if it is compatible with a Hybrid and was told these are not compatible with Hybrids apparently so I am probably not going to think about it again for now unless I get a confirmation on Hybrid 😅 -

@Voodoo101 can i ask what kind of issues you have experienced with the head units? If you have posted already about them just link me to the post and I'll take a look. But these seem to be plug n play apparently and are vehicle specific (hopefully 😅) Price is the only thing putting me off for now. -

Language options. Since it's a configurable screen so you can set the display to whatever you want. Like you can configure a combination if speedometer and other data etc. existing one has 2/3 fixed dials plus a smaller lcd showing some information in Japanese that you will have to translate which cannot be an option while driving of course. Just getting the options to configure the display in a choice of languages along with a combination of different data seems good to me. But i have to agree that the price is on the steeper side as compared to overall benefits so def not that good of a value for money. -
Hi all, Had anyone looked at these or thought about buying one for their beloved Alphard/Vellfire? These look quite interesting and I'm thinking of getting one for mine. Not immediately as u still need to sort the head unit out first (on its way) but this looked good considering it offers a lift of options for display which you don't get with the built in one. Plus i hope the conversation of all units should be a breeze since it's a purely screen based interface. If anyone has already experienced these then it would be great if they can share it with the community. Regards, I just found this on AliExpress: £535.37 | 12.3" LCD Car Digital Dashboard Cluster For Toyota Alphard 2008-2014 Virtual Instrument Panel Speedometer Cockpit Meter Upgrade https://a.aliexpress.com/_ExTd4jo

I suggest we create a post for series 20 like we have for series 10 for all manuals and add stuff there please rather than having to rely on people DM'ing members. That should help find things for new owners/members without having to poke some of the mods/admins. -

Did you have to wait to get the DVLA registration done or did it before that? -

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 240S and 240X the insurance companies ask for? How do we know which one is mine? Any guidance on that would be greatly appreciated. (I did search for 240 everywhere on the forum but could not find an answer) -
This is by far the best explanation I have got with regards to the road tax applying to Alphards and Vellfires (or you can say most Japanese Imports). This is from a DVLA agent I chatted with earlier. Hope this helps others wanting to find out the reasoning. So it basically does not matter whether its a 3L V6 or a 2.4 petrol or 2.4 Petrol Hybrid. Tax is the same for all due to following reasons: To find out the current exact rates, you can go to this URL and find out: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/other-vehicle-tax-rates Still don't know why would the govt charge same for a normal and Hybrid vehicle. Just a way to make more money I guess.

Adrian Flux £850 JapCover £1050 Chris Knott £1450 NFU Said cannot provide cover for an imported car unless I have some other policy with them. Very strange as some people here were able to get it from them. Comparison sites £650 (Admiral) Need to get in touch with a few more but its quite a big range -
East Midlands Garage recommendation?

I would like to get these recommendations as well as I am in the same region (Leicester to be precise) and going to get my Vellfire soon -
The wiring will be there but existing mirrors do not have cameras installed and my main concern is drilling holes for the cameras. If there are brackets/adapters available that would be better. I do not have the car yet though 😅 it has departed JPN but I am just getting ready for all the changes I want to make to it 😁

Hi All, New to this forum and I would like to also know if you can retro fit cameras to side mirrors? Are there any adapters/brackets available for that? Dont want to drill holes. I have a 2014 hybrid model that I want to fit with an Android system with the 360 cameras. My Vellfire does not come with factory fitted 360 cameras. Only has rear/reverse camera.
