  1. Don't forget to let us know how you get on with fitting the new one. We might need to be following suit!
  2. Just to let everyone know that the part has been refitted. The two pivots (near the top of the item in my pic) fit into two holes on the underside of the main part. Positioned one pivot then pushed the other side up and it clicked into place. Now just need to test that it will hold a full cup without dropping.
  3. Thanks Picasso! I found someone who is prepared to sell me a pair for £20, so hopefully that will mean I'm sorted. I found that parts list as well, and know that as a backup I can get them from Partsouq
  4. Thanks. That has answered the important question of how it fits! Now just got to see if I can put mine back together!
  5. Yes. I think some call it a puddle light. The previous owner was supposed to have replaced it, but was upfront by saying he hadn't managed to find one. I'm just going through my list of jobs that I found during my first month of ownership
  6. The door lamp (reflector assembly) is missing on the drivers door of my Alphard. Any ideas of anyone who could supply a replacement, please. TIA
  7. I found this inside the large cubby bin at the bottom of the dash. Looks like it belongs somewhere in/on the dashboard but where?
  8. Removed without any real problems. Just needed a quick tug with one of my trim tools and out it came. Now, able to see the wiring for the current rear fog lamp switch and what was done to the standard wiring. I believe the grey plug at top left of the pic was the standard connector. This had five wires. The green power and the wite/black earth wires have been cut off and connected to the top two terminals on the after market switch. The bottom two terminals on the switch have a red and a black wire in a sheath and heading towards the lamp. That leaves a wite/black, a grey and a green/wite wire still in the plug. AS there are only four wires on the new switch, which wire do I ignore form the standard wiring?
  9. Do you know, I had looked at that and didn't see the separate panel. I was working on taking the whole grey panel out! So, trim removal tools at the ready, and a push from underneath and behind should work wonders!
  10. Is that the whole grey panel or one of the switches, you are describing?
  11. Now needing to see what is going on with the wiring behind the grey switch panel to the right of the steering wheel, how much if a wotsit is it remove?
  12. Having purchased the switch recommended by Dezufo, i was assuming (quite wrongly) that the change from old to new would be straightforward. The current switch has four wires. Two red - one feed in; the other out to the single after market fog lamp - and two black. One black I assume is to earth the in switch warning light, but what would the other black be for? The new switch also has four wires, black for earth, red as feed in, green to lamp and a yellow marked as positive. What is the pupose of the yellow wire and what should it connect to? I thought I understood car electrics, but this has me really stumped!
  13. Yet again, thanks for your pointer. For that money (and my peace of mind!) I will replace the current switch with this one. Then just got to pull the display out so I can see what wires have been messed with.
  14. Thanks once again and good thinking! I did notice that when I removed one of the feed wires from the rear fog switch that the dash warning light briefly went out, but then came back on again. I do hate people who don't follow the rules about car wiring. They don't realise the problems they cause further down the line. Grrr!
  15. Thanks to both you and Gamith for the replies. As the front fogs are using built in wiring, I'm wondering why the amber warning light for the front fogs is permanently on, no matter what position the switch is in. The fog lights themselves are working correctly.
