  1. On the Hybrid there is no starter relay as such, the engine is initially started using the Hybrid motor in the gearbox. Subsequent stop/starts uses the starter generator via the serpentine belt. Check the gear lever is in park and "P" is displayed on the dash.
  2. The Hybrid battery system never fully charges the battery during general driving so there is spare capacity for regeneration braking. This also keeps the battery temp down as the inner cells of the pack are prone to overheat and fail as I have found out.
  3. Yes there are, but it will not change the road tax, likewise very little info will get transferred from the Japanese Type Certificate to the logbook. The log book info all comes from the Europe Type approval regs and as the Japan one is not in the correct format DVLA can not transfer the info. Mine is just a Toyota, I did get the fuel changed to Gas Bi-Fuel and added exhaust emissions. pictures from V5 and CofC
  4. I presume it is the ABS unit which has an electric pump and accumulator in it. I have had an unexpected leak from the accumulator, after it had been in the garage for an MOT, which lights up several warnings. I suspect they had pushed the brake pads back away from the disc, anyway a few hard pumps of the brake pedal cleared the fault. A bit of muck on a check valve?
  5. You just need to remove the lower glove box, unship the ECU, the fuse box is up behind next to the bulkhead. Lie on your back in the passenger foot well look up and you should see it. You will need a pair of long nose pliers.
  6. All early 10 series hybrids are 96kw at 5600rpm. (109kw including the hybrid motors)
  7. I have only found one point under the bonnet, which also has a sight glass to check the level of refrigerant. I assume the temp control flap actuator is moving correctly and is not stuck on hot? Do the pipes on the compressor have a significant temp difference? I can not find anywhere in the manual how or where to connect the aircon test tool. Attached are some files which may be of some help. Refrigerant is HFC-134a (R134a) amount 830+/- 30g. Extraction of refrigerant.pdf Refrigerant check.pdf
  8. Hi, I have made a short video while repairing my 2003 Alphard heater air blend door actuator by replacing the tracked disk within the unit. Hope it helps if you have a noisy or intermittent actuator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr0H7cIDzPE
  9. P3125-496 is a starter generator fault, "Load short circuit due starter motor inverter abnormality" not much help really. If DTC P3125-448 is also shown then goto related diagnosis, however I can't find what this code is.
  10. Ref the pdf. You can access the bracket from the wheel well but the pipes and connector is a different matter. Access from the other side behind the bumper trim. The inverter cooling pump also cools the starter generator and transmission where the drive motor is, but not sure which motor triggers the warning. The system will need bleeding if drained down.
  11. There is no tax benefit. Just allows you to drive into any of the increasing number of LEZ zones without getting charged.
  12. Make sure you check lez's first as it is based on vehicle age and not because it's an import. Mine is 2003 so was non compliant, I think 2006 onwards is EURO4 compliant.
  13. No issue obtaining a CoC from https://japaninspection.org/certificate-of-conformity-coc/ . I emailed them first because I didn't have an export cert, but not issue if already registered in UK. Forms to complete are on the above link. Engine serial number is on the front rh end of the block if not already on the V5C. Took a couple of weeks to complete the process and another week for delivery. 6 weeks for the DVLA to make the changes.
  14. No not yet, it took them over a month to add engine serial number, change fuel type and add some emission data
  15. Hi, did you have any caution / warning lights on the instrument panel? I had 6 months on the van, 12 months on the conversion and 5 years warranty on the HV battery on my van from them. No problem fixing the battery after 4 years.
  16. https://autorepguide.com/showthread.php/1067-TOYOTA-ALPHARD-2002-2008-ESTIMA-(2000-2006)-workshop-manual-download?highlight=Estima I just need one for a 2.4 hybrid plus wiring
  17. I have found a Toyota Estima / Alphard workshop manual, in Russian! Plenty of diagrams, exploded views etc. with torque figures on and with Google Lens to translate it is OK, better than nothing.
  18. I have obtained the Certificate of Conformity, Type approval Certificate, from the Japan Inspection organisation for my 2003 2.4 Hybrid which gives the emissions and a statement to say the vehicle emissions category is equivalent to EURO 4. This and the V5C plus letter has been sent to the DVLA.............. waiting to see if they will update the V5C with the emissions info which is 144g/km CO2
  19. Hybrid vehicles don't require an emissions test for an MOT. You can get a Certificate of Conformity, Type approval Certificate, from Japan Inspection Organisation which will tell you the emissions and that it is equivalent to EURO-4.
  20. Aliexpress sell them as well, around £40. https://www.aliexpress.com/i/1005003560435399.html Just replaced mine as it was noisy, hardest part was removing rusted in fasteners holding the lower wrap around bumper.
  21. Get Techstream to get all the relevant codes and descriptions. Surprised you have a READY light on as that signifies all is well with the HV battery system, normally on the first start the light is not on until the engine has started. P3000 code is a high level fault it just means there is something wrong with the battery or ECU etc. Techstream will dig deeper and pull up specific fault codes, Google Techstream there are cheap kits for sale and YouTube videos on how to run it on a laptop.
  22. What warning lights were on when it shut down? Mine was similar but different codes and related to the HV battery one cell weak, I think P3000 is the generic code for this. Comms is lost with the brake ECU so no regenerative brake function or stability control.
  23. Hi check out YouTube for info on how and where to download and install Techstream, running within a virtual windows XP environment. https://youtu.be/OyBwz3GT2g8 It is an older version but then our Alphards are old. Good luck.
  24. Did any other warning lights come on before the engine cut out? Does the engine actually turn when trying to start it? The inverter, power steering and oil pump (AC powered ) are quite noisy in operation, is this the sound you are hearing? I would get the sensor replaced first and get the codes cleared, if it is still the same then get the inverter checked out. Find someone with Techstream or download it to get the full codes.
  25. Check auto box oil level when hot and top up to the full line, mine does this occasionally on very cold mornings
