  1. I suppose one idea would be to disconnect the whole"unit"and see if every thing still works. If every thing is still OK, I would take it off the battery and put in your shed!!!
  2. Hi, Is your Alphard a camper conversion,if so it could be for charging the leisure battery. Perhaps someone will confirm this.
  3. Hi,if you look back through the Camper posts, you will find my detailed photographs and how I fitted a rail onto my 2007. I also give the company who supplied me with the rail. starider.
  4. Hi Lee, As I said these S/S bespoke exhaust "builders" are franchises from a national company and have heard good reports on the quality of product and workmanship. I'll ask my wife to find the name of the main company. We live a few miles out of Holsworthy where there is an outlet[the one which is closed for 6 weeks]. The one we have booked is about 25miles away in Tavistock. When we deliver the Alphard I'll get as much info. as is useful and report back when work is completed.
  5. Thanks Roger, Have done. regards Tony PS Have just posted about the sliding door.
  6. Bit of a disaster, someone tried to open the sliding door this week by wrenching on the handle before my wife could explain it was electric. The door worked OK for a couple of times then would only part way and eventually became impossible to move either way. Luckily there was a mechanic on hand to at least close the door for travel and we have to clamber over the front seats to get "stuff" from the rear. Before the door was persuaded to close I noticed on the centre slider, a thin metal cable which went round a bracket which disappeared each end of the the door. I assume the internals of the door contain mechanisms[i.e.electric motor which winds the cable too and fro to open and close the door. I have no real desire to have an electric side door if this is likely to happen again. The cable connecting point to the door appears to be via a bracket bolted to the central door slider, by 2 x 10mm bolts.I will then cut the cable front and rear and either pull out or push in the cable. Any comments please either with horror or other comments!!
  7. Hi Lee, reg number:- F8 TCM 2007. {need to find how to send pm].
  8. Hi Lee, Thanks for your help,I purchased the correct sensor and everything then worked fine, until I used the kick down at which point the engine light came on. Stopped for a few minutes started again engine light went out and remained out until once again I asked for extra power, light came on. Within the last three days went upto a caravan dealers near Burnham on Sea. Towed all the way there and towed new caravan back and managed to drive without asking for extra power,no light at all. The Alphard has developed a rattle in the exhaust system which seems to be coming from the Cat. The whole system looks rather delicate so I am looking to replace the lot.Any ideas where I might get a reasonable deal? Many thanks, Tony.
  9. Hi Lee, Hope you're feeling better! Have ordered the Fuel Ratio Sensor. Thanks for the help. Regards. Tony.
  10. Hi Lee, any luck with finding the correct front Lampda sensor for my 2007 Alphard?
  11. Hi, If you look back through the Camper Forum, sometime ago I posted a recommendation for a model of tow bar which I found quite easy to fit to my 2007 Alphard.
  12. I'm sure most of you know, but a reminder, before you begin to unscrew each spark plug, make absolutely sure you have cleaned every single piece of crud from around the base of each plug, otherwise as you remove the plug the crud will fall into the cylinder. I always remove and fit the plugs one at a time.
  13. Hi, F8 TCM [original reg.WU07 EYY]. Thanks
  14. Hi, finding it difficult to sauce/find the correct Lampda sensor for my 2007 2.4 Alphard. The only one that seems 1/2 correct does not have the plug fitted, only joining clips. Any help would be appreciated especially a supplier and Part No. Thanks!
  15. Thanks to both of you for your help.I hope to find out why the engine light comes on after driving for a bit, after switching of and re-starting the light goes off again.I suspect the front Lampda sensor needs replacing. Will post the results of my diagnosis.
  16. Please save hours looking for the !6pin DLC on my 2007 Alphard. Many thanks.
  17. Hi, found the transmission dip stick,it's just below the heater intake pipe with a RED tipped dip stick. Quite long and needs carefully pushing back in.
  18. Thanks for the help. Regards.
  19. Hi again, just had a thought,is there a dip stick for the transmission oil?
  20. Hi Picasso, is it possible to purchase a suitable reader for the Alphard? I am of the "old school" of motor engineers when cars had few if any sensors. The tuning/ testing equipment I have is steam powered by todays standards!! Many thanks for your interest.
  21. Hi, my Alphard has just developed a problem, the engine warning light comes on after driving for several miles, the temperature gauge shows normal. When I stop for a period of time and start again the light does not come on again for some time. The only fault I can find is that the expansion tank had been over filled. Both cooling fans are working as they should.Oil was changed recently and is at the recommended level. I can't find any other problem.Any ideas would be appreciated.
  22. Hi, For 22 years I have had all our tyres fitted to our cars, vans, tractors and farm machinery by Advance Tyres in Holsworthy. My most recent visit was to have 2 front tyres fitted to our Duster, as the tracking had been put out by pot hole damage. Some of the fitters have worked there for over 22 years. Great advice and workmanship. Highly recommended[sensible pricing]. Haven't needed any on the Alphard yet. 01409 254446
  23. Not with standing the previous comments, speaking to the mechanics who MOT my Alphard, the general census is that the "spongy" feelings when braking is due to the ABS,I must admit that on occasions when needing to brake hard, the "feeling" can be "is it going to stop?" but I have noticed if I press the pedal harder the brakes do work as you would expect. My Alphard always passes the MOT brake test with no comments about the brakes.
  24. Hi Chris, We live up the A30 just past Roadford Lake. Didn't realise there was so much fog around Exeter.
  25. Sounds good, thought about doing something similar, but went with the easier option. Thought about putting one each side in the rear skirt, but couldn't because the tow bar was just behind the skirt, which left no room to fit the lights in..
