Techstream will communicate with the 30 series, its a standard tool on newer Alphards (2008 onwards) as well as most JDM Toyotas since around 2006 You would be well advised to just buy the connection lead/adaptor and a copy of techstream from ebay, should be under $50 AUS. I can even provide a link to the software pre-setup in a virtual machine, so no faffin about with drivers and software install/registration/compatibility with newer versions of Windows OS. In this way, even if you are not comfortable with diagnosis, you can bring a laptop with you to the service technician and show the status with a tool that actually works

Quick check on ebay, you can buy the complete arm and wiper for under £20. These look identical to the factory fitted ones.

You sure its missing? Is your alphard 1st gen? on 2008 onwards, the rear wiper is fitted under the roof spoiler, i remember 1st viewing mine and drawing air in over teeth, because I thought the rear wiper was not fitted, but then spotted it when checking the 3rd brake light was functioning (and the fact the wiper controller inside had 'rear' controls too)

Try also switching off auto 4wd and traction controls if you have the buttons to do so, limit the monitoring ECUs to try and limit the scope of the electronics that are preventing car from moving.

what gen alphard? On the 20series, I know that you can set via the buttons mentioned above, there is also setting in techstream to set the amount of dimming at night relative to the day setting.

Yeah, I read as many japanese catalogues as possible - the 2nd gen do not have swivel seats as an option at all. Not sure if it was a law/regulation change related to safety ratings, or if it is something to do with the SRS airbag setup in the 2nd gen, which seems more likely. Infact, as a point of discussion, do camper conversions have the curtain airbags disconnected? as this would seem a bad thing to go off in an accident if they are blocked from correct operation by installed cabinets

These ones are snug, fully encapulated too, so wont corrode, I have used these in an older Regius and in my Alphard, I have these bulbs in the front side lights, rear sidelights, numberplate lights and all my internal lights except the boot light, which is a different socket type. No, these are not 'retroreflective' standard retroflective lenses are designed to reflect light 'back' in the direction it came from, upto 55degrees, whereas normal reflectors act more like mirrors, so the light reflects 'away' from the the angle it hits. I bought similar to those you listed to test, they shine if hit with a torch square on, but at an angle, they are dark. The little dimples you see are just micro lenses to shine light out better from the LEDs I attach an image from one of those types of fitment, in the image I stuck on a small retroreflector (the round thing) as you can see that is taken with a light source at about 45degrees off centre and it looks like the round thing is internally lit like a bulb, whereas there is only 'mirror' effect reflection in the rest of the lens

Well, they do state that it passes the ECE standard, and they are E marked, which means the retroreflector must attain a certain percentage of light reflected back to the source - from the images I see, the 2 halfs of the lens have the reflective prisms offset by at least 45degrees, which would indicate they have attempted to comply to both the ECE and SAE standards within one lens. Of course, i'm no expert, just someone that has probably wasted way too much time delving into UN and ECE regulations with respect to lighting! Still would be interested in hearing a categorical statement by them, i'm willing to pay this premium price if it means zero hassle from enforcement officers or testers.

Yes, there are several 'types' listed - they do appear to mirror the standard toyota model dimensions, for me type 1 is needed, but I know some of the 2008-2010 would use type2. The next hurdle will be shipping to UK, a site like Jauce will act as a middleman, as many businesses dont ship outside of Japan directly, when I bought a full set of windows shades (excellent quality and fit for all windows, even the small quarter panels at front) the shipping was more than the item - it may be possible to order more than 1 set at once if we get a few people to join us, and the total shipping will be less, as they charge by total container size etc.

I was lucky, one of our local mechanics was able to eyeball the relay image an popped one out of a wrecker car he had on the back of his towtruck, it is a common relay, there should be another identical one fitted near the same position that you should be able to take to a parts shop or breakers yard to get another one

I spent ages lookng for an approved reflector/led, I think I have found 2 solutions: One, is to replace the tow hook plastic covers with either round foglights or reflectors from something like a 2007 Corolla OR, I think the Valenti rear reflector/led lamp is actually 'safety' rated to act as an actual reflector in Japan. Unfortunately, the Valenti LED/Reflector is almost £100, but would comply with MOT requirements - I have also seen 'retrofit' kit that uses the original reflector and adds leds to it, but I imagine some form of disassembly/reassembly is required. The hunt continues!

I know in the 2008 there are two small vents (about the size of a 5pence piece) near cab lights, one is dead end, the other is the microphone, and near drivers knee is another similar small grill which is the temp sensor for the cabin. at some point immobilisers became standard equipment, usually indicated by a flashing red car with key symbol on the dash

its annoying, I have seen some other manufacturers have a 50/50 bumper installed reflector/fog. The other option I toyed with, was some kind of frankensteins monster of cutting and glueing together the retroreflector to the new fog lamp, what I need is someone with good 3d printer design skills to make some kind of holder or housing its all so painful - the official toyota rear fog fits into the small 'quarter' panel that clips to the bumper and sits under the rear lights, I suppose I could buy that panel from amayama, but it looks a little naf, unless I buy one for each side. So, options that are non destructive. a) buy 2 quarter panels, and fog lights at probably over £500 - nope b) use dual colour led bulbs in reverse lights, extending cable from existing fog lamp loom - doable, and really easy to replace bulbs/maintenance if need be. c) find an actual reflector with lamp for retrofit in bumper - still looking d) open up and cut glue together the original retroreflective lens to the replacement led lamp - feasible if slightly more cumbersome.

well, there are bulbs that can display both red and white,, so with fog switch on, they are red, and get overridden with white if you put in reverse. Apparently the light o/p is improved over the standard reerse lights too, so a bonus.
