Tyre options for 16'' wheels
AdamjG replied to AdamjG's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Thanks Arthur. I’ve just put 205/65/ R16 107T Continentals on ours for the same reasons as you, full conversion etc. Defenately firmer ride, but feel much more confident with van tyres on with the loading. Also running 40psi which real has really helped with mpg. -
Hi Michael, If your specialist know what part in the inverter is faulty, you can get the separate internal parts for the inverter. Have a look here: https://toyota.epc-data.com/alphard/ath10w/32238/electric/8431/

Hi all, does anyone know how to bring up the engine/inverter coolant temperature? id really like to know all is fine as the inverter is susceptible to overheating. thanks Adam

That’s fabulous- I’ll give that a go- thanks! I have been in touch with Jack from the Prius app, and he was keen to help find a way of connecting. Suggested I downloaded another app to work out the obd2 commands. Havent had a chance to do it yet though!

I had a slight coolant leak from the engine water pump. Similar levels lost, might be worth checking the pump.

Retractable wing mirrors
AdamjG replied to Matthew spencer's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Hi all, finally got round to swapping the motor in the drivers wing mirror. all sorted now! Works a treat 🙂. Also, @Picasso and @charliebrown the measurements for the unit were 73mm wide, and the base was 31mm wide. I’ll post the photos. -
Another update, it was the idler which also needed replacing. Thankfully the idler was only £40 plus post from Japan.

I’ve just ordered LH and RH motors and will give that a go. I’ll measure the unit when it’s stripped down. Motors should come in March 🙂 -
Thought I’d give you all an update. I ended up getting my local Toyota dealer, Steven Eagell, to do the job. They replace the belt, new tensioner and the water pump as it was leaking. Sounds so much smoother, but there is still a squeal occasionally on startup from cold. I think it might be the idler bearing / pulley. It’s booked in on Friday to take a look. They also changed all the coolant and gearbox and mgr fluid as who knows when that was last done!

thanks Rojie, what load rating are you considering? I’m wondering if 95H is enough as it’s a fully converted camper + 4 people and awning / camping gear.. -
Hi all, What tyres are you all running / recommend? Current have a set of budget tyres that will need replacing soon. Antares Ingens A1's. The size is- 205/65/16 95H Be interested in what you all have chosen. Thanks Adam

Retractable wing mirrors

Here's another option - looks very similar. Would have to remove the original and measure to be sure, but certainly a good price! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003291750390.html -

Retractable wing mirrors
AdamjG replied to Matthew spencer's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
I decided to strip down the mirror assembly today. Here's a few pictures. It motor unit certainly wasn't designed to come apart - the top cap was glued on! Made a bit of a mess of the plastic casing. All cogs were fine, but the electric motor wasn't very free. I flushed it through with WD 40. Once I put it all back together and plugged it in, the folding mirror moved slightly then stopped, almost like it was jambing or the motor wasn't up to the job. Oh well, I 'might' see if I can get a replacement motor or I will just order a new mechanism.... Worth a shot 🙂 -

Retractable wing mirrors
AdamjG replied to Matthew spencer's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Hi Myron, I think my issue is mechanical too, probably a broken cog. You can buy the motor assembly but it's £60-£90 plus delivery from Japan. https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs/toyota/alphard/1-van-3-right-h10-2005-r-3124/electrics-4/mirror-394 I'm going to remove the mirror and hopefully remove broken cog. There seems to be repair kits for other vehicles which replacement cogs are in metal. Seems such a waste to replace a whole unit when it's just a small cog! -

Hello Matt, Old post, but did you find a solution? I have the same issue. Can hear the motor working for a small time. Thanks Adam
