  1. Thank you everyone for the videos and the help. Just that we are doing a big trip from Suffolk to Orkneys in June so would like to get it fixed. I've put a request on our local community facebook page which is brilliant for recommendations and I think there is a mobile mechanic with a good reputation who is interested. Which seems better as Alf can stay on the drive way I've got a camping trip booked next weekend so it will have to wait until after that. I have to say I love this forum. It was what prompted me to buy Alf and we have had a lot of fun camping trips Funnily enough, we were the first Alfs in our area and now we see plenty, become quiet common. But we know how special they are. Thanks again guys - much appreciated as always x
  2. My alphard had a full service yesterday, but the garage could not replace all the spark plugs as one was stuck. They were scared to use too much force incase it broke the main head gasket. The garage has said see how it goes and if there are any problems come back. I'm just worried that I am going on a big camping trip with quite a lot of mileage in June. It runs smoothly - had all the filters changed and 3 out of the 4 spark plugs. Will it cause any issues or should I try another garage and risk the cracking of a head? Not sure what to do. Try another garage or see how it runs
  3. so all sorted with Alf bedding and ladder brought x
  4. I've brought a ladder that collapsed so 4ft ladder easily stored behind the seat.
  5. Thank you and Alf is a dream
  6. I picked my Alf up yesterday. What sort of bedding do you guys have in the pop up and a 3/4 rock n roll beds. Also need a ladder to get up there - any one got any suggestions. Much excitement
  7. Just insured for the first time for two drivers and AA breakdown cover with Safe Guard - half the price of the others that I called including Adrian flux.
  8. Sounds a great idea and definately top tip about the kettle and tea. Love a cuppa. I've also brought an insulated jug so can top up my tea without boiling the kettle much. We got a solar panel added to it. Thanks for the mattress topper idea - sounds cosy and you need comfort when you sleep x
  9. Oh yes and a side kitchen was going for a rear kitchen lol but the other person can go up in the pop up x Fabulous - they were both great - we went just seen what they were like and were going to buy in Spring but decided they were just lovely. Agree with you Russty - one of us can sleep in the bed and the other one can go up in the pop up x
  10. Thank you so much for this forum, answering my questions etc. Went to have a look at one at Andy's Imports and put a deposit down. Pick up on Saturday first camper and now what else do I need. It is a great piece of kit - didnt realise it was bigger. Was going for rear kitchen but got side and pop up top for extra person. Lovely solar panel added too. He is a great guy who answers every question.
  11. Wow that is so helpful and much appreciated. Never thought about a dog hammock lol will investigate. Thankfully we are going to look at some on Saturday and see what we can do. Endless possibilities lol and you are right you have to get it right. No point having something that doesn't fit your need. Thanks again for your advice and help - it is so useful. I shall be looking at dog hammocks I just want a bit of comfort so I can sleep Rock n roll beds do look quite slim Thanks again and this is quite fun in the research side. K
  12. I think we will definite get convert otherwise might as well stick with my car. The deciding factor will be if we can somehow squeeze two single beds that can be made up and not the seats being laid flat. Hopefully from the visit on Saturday we can see what they can do.
  13. I think we might have to get a toilet tent for the middle of the night. Oh will look at hammocks. Was thinking about an awning where we could have a spare room too. That is a cracking idea about hammocks. Also good idea about that - we could perhaps take one row out to make a kitchen??? at the rear. Any more suggestions are very welcome.
  14. Going to be a long weekend van probably localish camping. A couple of weeks in Scotland at campsite. Two girlies who are not a couple intend to use it and we will not be wild camping. All camping will be done at a site. We love walking, so no children or pets. So we need an option of two beds. We are both quite small in height but not sure about climbing up the top. Any help would be great
  15. Sorry off to see some on Saturday - what is the best version to buy. Another question but you guys are so helpful
