I think that would be my preference, see how it goes and replace if it gives me trouble again relatively soon.

Do you think its worth replacing the MAF or just see how long the fix lasts?

£40 That's nearly half a tank of petrol or 50miles in my 3 litre beast.🤣 But.......... At least the EML is still off. I wonder if sorting the MAF out will improve my MPG / GPM.🤔

My life has always been a long sequence of operator error 🤣. I did have to download the manual and I'm too tight to print it so electronic copy only. Printing a whole manual is pretty impressive, did you need 150 double sided A4 or did you accidentally press multiple copies😁, I've done that. Thanks for your support Bignev, it's much appreciated. I will update whenever I get a solution. Take care Bud.😉

Morning Bignev, There is an enter button which takes you immediately to "entering system" with no protocol choice then it fails to connect. I've had a good read of the manual and done some Google searches and found that the jp700 is Japanese car specific and should auto detect which protocol it needs so I'm going to send the feedback to Ancel. I love the fact we are still trying to eliminate operator error. 🤣 the most likely cause. Thanks for your patience. 😁

Thanks for the information, I've updated the software and given it a go this morning but I can't select JOBD as I don't know how to bring it up on a menu. There is not much that can be changed on tool setup but I have tried mertic and imperial to no avail so I've used the feedback button to send the data to Ancel in the hope they can help. But..... The EML is still off.🥳🥳 Thanks Bignev

Yes it does, I select Toyota then it checks the codes. I'll attach some pictures. Initial connection ignition off Ignition on, engine not running select Toyota. Searching for codes. Error codes found. No Error codes because I cleaned the MAF🥳 and cleared the code. Return to initial screen and go through same sequence as in the first post, with engine running. I can see we are going down the route of operator error, very wise. I should get a chance to try the reader in a different vehicle today so I will update the post then. Thanks for helping. 👍

Hi BigNev My reader sparks into life as soon as you plug it in but can't read anything until you turn the ignition to on, dash lights on, engine not running. It then picks up any existing fault codes. When I start the engine and go to the live diagnostics they give each other the silent treatment. Just having the error code was enough to help me stumble in the right area to 🤞resolve 🤞the original issue but I would like to use all the reader functions incase of any further issues. As with most problems in my life it's probably down to operator error. 🤣 My next plan is to plug it in to another car and see if it functions properly. Thanks for the guidance and taking the trouble to reach out.

Just had a run out in the alphie and went up two hills with a 100% history of EML illumination and the EML stayed off. Cleaning the MAF sensor seems to have worked.👍 I just need to sort out my obd reader and all will be well in my little world. This forum is a mine of useful information. Thanks.

Hi All, First of all a thank you for the help and advice over the last 3years, you have given me confidence to successfully have a go at quite a few things I would normally pay to get done. Quids in.👍 I've recently invested in an Ancel jb700 jobd reader to help me resolve an intermittent EML issue and I'm having a problem getting the reader and alphie to chat properly. I've managed to extract a fault code, 0174, currently investigating further and happy to progress step by step. The obd reader can't connect for a diagnostic check and gives 4 possible reasons. See pictutes. Not sure what No 4 means, if I've got one or how to turn it off. I'm still persevering but seem to be chasing my tail, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to the forum guidance I've cleaned the MAF sensor and so far the EML has stayed off, with it being an intermittent fault I'm not holding my breath but you never know. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Grumpygrandad.

2006 Alphard Emissions
Hi, I have a 2006 3.0l petrol alphard, converted this year which qualified for a critique Air 2 certificate for France and is ULEZ compliant in the UK. I only had to input my Reg no. into the official Gov Web site for confirmation so I can't understand why a hybrid wouldn't sail through!!!!

2006 Alphard Emissions
Hi All, Applied for my Crit'air sticker online on Sunday evening, received an email today ( Tuesday )with a copy of the sticker and my sticker is in the post. Crit'air 2. All the information they needed on my Alphard could be found on my V5C even though it's a first registration in the UK V5C with next to no information on it. They didn't need my emissions in CO2/gm which is a good job because I don't know what it is, I think the pertinent information is the year of first registration. I wasn't sure of the EU emissions category (4) but found it with an Internet search. When filling in the online form I put in the wrong information for EU emissions and the form wouldn't accept it, let me have another go at inputting the right information so the form is fool-proof. Armed with my V5C, a picture of the V5C to upload as proof and good old PayPal the task was reasonably simple not least because of the option to select an English version of the application form. My french is not quite on a par with Del boy. My only word of warning would be to make sure you are using the official French Government site where it will cost you just over £4.00 and not £20.00 + you will be charged on a third party site. It really was straightforward. Grumpy Grandad. 2006 3.0l Alphard

Cycle rack?
Hi Roundhiller I stumbled on a 2 bike rear van mounted bike rack on ebay for £120. It didn't come in its original box and no identification of manufacturer on the assembly instructions. I've been in touch with the seller but no joy as it was from a garage clearance. I bought 6 boot straps and buckles as I didn't fancy using the metal on metal brackets it came with. I fitted some rectangular tubing across the top mounting bars to fit an extra mounting foot, I probably didn't need to but it gave me peace of mind. I also fitted some rubber under the feet to protect the paintwork as the feet are made from quite hard plastic. The rack is height adjustable, sits securely on the narrow bumper and has ample clearance when passing over the rear spoiler to sit on the roof. The rack has to be removed to open the rear door so that might not be ideal for some. Sorry I couldn't give you exact details on a suitable bike rack, hopefully the photos will give you some idea on how to overcome the spoiler issue. Grumpy Grandad.
