    I've made a reasonable attempt at re-cutting the facia to fit the Hybrid selector / position legends and tried again - still can't get the factory 360 cameras to work & unfortunately the 360 camera setup is not part of the main wiring diagrams for the Hybrid model. So the factory HU is back in for now.

    I've ordered a 16 pin connector from Aliexpress (as the adapter loom doesn't have this) and some other bits for the factory microphone - will try again when the parts arrive.

     


    hi, I have just bought and installed a dudu7 11” HU. Most things work, but not any steering wheel controls. Were yours working ok?

    Do you have original headunit? As that also has an etc mute setting.


    yes I HAD an original unit that I muted it on, but since removing this to put in an android head unit, it’s come back on again annoyingly.

    You can also just disconnect the wiring at the back - just undo the panel, starting with the panel under the dash - you could also then remove it, but what for? youll just end up with a gap in the small storage unit.

  4. Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but I’m in a similar situation to the OP now. For my head unit 56107 18 speakers (most of which are no longer needed as I have a full length side conversion) I understand there are two options:

     

    a) MOST decoder box that still uses the amp

    b) Amplifier bypass cables that still connect to the amp but doesn’t use it

     

    However, is it possible to completely remove the amp and everything else under the passenger seat, and use the speakers direct to the android head unit?

     

    The motive behind this is to free up a little more storage space.

  5. I bought from a private importer not a dealer, but seeing as speed and odometer is registering miles I’m assuming it’s a chip as you say. My question though was on the km/ltr and distance to empty. Are you saying everything should be in miles? I.e. fuel consumption is 8.1 miles per km in the above?

     

    also….myncar was showing 81km to empty (as above, maybe this is 81 miles) and only took 37 ltrs to fill up. Seems a bit low to to me, I’m unsure what the tank holds (mine is a 2013 hybrid).

  6. Hi all, I recently started looking at buying an alphard or vellfire, and now I’m serious about it. I started looking at series 30 but decided the prices were too high. So a decent 2012+ series 20 will be just fine. 
     

    This will be a daily around town driver for me, about 25 miles per day. Hence I was looking at the hybrid models, but I’ve been told the 2.4 hybrid is not reliable, but I cannot find real life evidence of this. I also read about excessive engine oil consumption on the 2.4, but again not sure if this was sorted out on later year models?
     

    can anyone with similar models share their experience with this engine? 
     

    The car I’ve seen is actually a 2013 with 64,000 miles. Is this mileage ok or is it considered high and therefore a risk/more maintenance required?

     

    any info to help me decide would be much appreciated.

    On (a) it wasn't clear how the runners would be removed and re-introduced into their tracks.  It looked like the entire track would need to be lifted from the floor.  Didn't get any further.

     

    On (b) the seats do indeed swap over, left to right rotated 180, but only when a little angle grinding work removed a small part of one side of the locating rear boxes.  Seat sliding mechanism no longer mated, so the runners ideally needed to be in position before moving the seats.  Did all that and the result is more permanent than is convenient.  So have removed the middle row entirely and now have a very roomy 5-seater (smile).  I put the picnic unit onto the runners which were moved completely forward and that worked a treat.


    Ah, thanks a lot for that. Funny enough, I was thinking maybe removing middle row seats is a good idea (I just hate the thought of throwing out excellent quality seats!). 
     

    do you sleep in your Alphard? If so, I presume you use the 3rd row somehow?

     

    also, does your picnic unit now slide on the runners or a fixed position unit?

  8. Hi all,

     

    im thinking of getting an ah30 that i will slowly and ultimately convert to a camper. 
     

    I like that on the 3 series there is a long slide on the near side, i.e. a single rail for front two seats to slide to any position. Anyone know if this was only an option or standard on certain trim levels?

     

    also, can the front passenger seat be reversed to face backwards (not on a swivel)? This would be useful for solo camping. May as well also ask - if it can be done, is it legal for a passenger to sit in the backwards facing position whilst driving?


    Images show some seats have integrated seatbelts, some don’t.
