I managed to connect my phone and occasionally I use the CD player. I have not gone any deeper. But I'm interested to know how the system could be used as a navigation system. I have no plans to change it. But it would be nice if was in English.

Any joy switching to English, or stopping the ETC (toll card) warning: I have the voice of a Japanese lady telling me I don't have a toll card.. in Japanese

Sadly English firmware seems to have never existed for these models, so remembering the key Japanese buttons is the only way!

I did have the daily welcome announcement disabled for a while until I did the foglight work. Disconnecting the battery for that obviously reset the whole thing and I've yet to find the site that has the instructions on how to silence those sorts.

Navigation won't work on the unit as it is built for Japan only, it can't see the satellites let alone have a map for the UK. I would like to get a way to feed carplay/android auto in to display on the screen, but my wife prefers to listen to FM radio and data signal outside the city isn't always that good for streaming apps. Using the AV inputs gets it on the screen easily, but doesn't pass touch through and all audio needs to come from the phone.

In an ideal scenario, I'd have a spare unit to dismantle and try and find a way to remove the factory navigation circuits and feed carplay/android auto in that way using the correct AVC-Lan protocols. But I know I'll never find the time! 🤣
