Awning rail for Alphard

Recommended Posts

Hi, if you trawl back a few weeks I posted quite a number of posts on this very subject. I hope in the next week or so, to publish some pics showing how[once the awning rail is fitted] how the drive away fits to the camper.

I hv not bn able to find a Toyota garage who has a diagnostic system that recognises the Alphard as it’s an import.

even Toyota head office will not recognise it or do anything about it.

as far as I can make out it’s an upgraded Previa … it shares a lot of the same parts etc … so you really need an old time mechanic that’s not reliant on a diagnostic computer to tell them what’s wrong !
I hv contacted an aftermarket market Toyota dealer and I am trying to convince them to connect over the internet to a diagnostic computer that recognises the Alphard … it’s a work in progress!!

I took mine to a local conversion company and they fitted a rail for my Vango Kela V awning. I tried a magnetic strip but it was hopeless. Also I use my local Toyota garage Snows and they have been brilliant. Even set up a service plan for me.

Hi, new to forum, can anyone recommend an awning rail for my Alphard.Or a way to fix a drive away awning. Also can someone recomend a garage for servicing etc,.I live in Hainault Essex.Thank you.

Most Toyota Garages will service them as engines are in other Toyota cars that are sold here.

A lot of clips & parts on my Vellfire can be found on a Yaris!

Plugs filters etc can be ordered at Toyota dealers and usually arrive in a couple of days. The only bad thing is the service prices! I suppose they are similar to a lot of dealers but the bigger engines cost more to service.

Best find a local garage that services/sells Toyotas.

Hope this is a helpful?

Toyota dealers in uk have to pay for access to the diagnostic computer and they will not do that just for 1 Alphard, but if you buy a scanner that has the JOBD protocol it will read any fault codes, Ancel are very good as per > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295325433361

Awning rails commonly called a C rail are available on ebay/amazon in various lengths they are usually screwed and glued, using Sikaflex, to the roof near to the black in fill strip, to connect an awning you will need a kadar strip to join the two together. Any decent garage should be capable of servicing an Alphard the engines are used in various uk/eu models, the rest is just common sense mechanical know how, the problem with some garages is they can not be bothered to source the parts but you can all ways get the part numbers or the parts for them, oil/filters/plugs/belts/wipers/brake pads/discs/sensors are all available on ebay or Autodoc plus specialist suppliers, body parts are hard to get hold of

That's great news ...do you know if there is a scanner that also checks the integrated disability remote chair lift as this is where my problem is...it works intermittently and gets stuck halfway in and out so my wife will not now go out in the Alphard anymore as too risky, so no one seems to know where the problem is.....appreciate your support
