Hello Tony,

Welcome to the Forum.

Are you referring to High Beam or Low Beam ?

Can you add a photo, as there are more than one type of bulb fitted.

High Beam

Halogen (H4, 60w/55w) or Discharge (HB3, 60w).

Low Beam

With AFS D2R, 35W

Without AFS D2S, 51W

I hope this is a helpful starting point.

Hi

Thanks for your help, you are spot on, a D2R 35watt is the one I need. I bought a D2S 35watt and the light was more a warm colour instead of the white colour of the light on the other side. I have checked and I have a AFS. Thanks for you help

There are some good manuals on ebay. If you can't find one there Google your model and one should come up...Obvious, but state UK version.

The one I have has a picture of my Vellfire on the front.

These tell  you most things you need to know about your Alphard.

I believe the non AFS (reflector type) are D2R (the R for reflector).

The AFS are projectors so use D2S.

There are D3 and D4 variants, but these are non mercury bulbs, and require less energy to fire up which I suspect wouldn't be compatible with/damage the ballasts on the earlier cars (AH10 at least).

Didn't the 10 series mark the lamp housing like 20 series?

Check if you have a projector housing, as it would be D2S.

D2R has a small shield on the bulb to prevent light being emitted forward, as it uses a reflector housing.

If not sure, attach photo of headlamp and we will tell you.

On 20 series, it's easy as the bulb is printed on top
