I bought a 3.0l V6 Alphard December 2006 release. It’s an import from Japan and when driving above 70 my cruise control always sets to 70mph. Can I remove/reset this limit? If I’m driving less than 70mph I can adjust the speed higher using the stalk.. I can’t do this when at 70? Why is this

Does the car have a limiter?

Yes 71mph. Apparently it’s a Japan thing and I can’t change it

Actually you can, but  just be done via the obd2 socket using a specific code reader/writer. I'll find out and lost it here.

Any update on this, please?

Unfortunatly not. It would require the ECU to be re flashed on the 2006, from 2002 - 2004 they used the same ecu then changed it for the 2005-2008 models.

Yes. 2008 onwards, you can buy the official stalk, plug it in and away you go.

no additional ECU or messing about, I really wonder why toyota decided this was a worthwhile 'extra' and didnt just fit as standard to all vehicles!

I understand it comes as unpleasant surprise when we buy less than 3.0L Hondas Toyota and they don't have Cruise control. So it is not only Toyota thing. Some helpful fella and YouTuber warned about it. Link to one of his videos below if anyone likes to watch
