We have just bought an Alphard which is having a rear kitchen conversion done.  We don't have a reg. number yet as this is an import and we're waiting on the DVLA.  I therefore can't get an insurance quote.  Could somebody give me an idea of cost for driver + 1 named driver please?  Thank you.

I picked my alphard 3.0 up 2 weeks ago insurance with direct line cost me £467.00 fully comp I have always drove vans on a commercial insurance and built up 9+ N C D they let me use my N C D on my alphard I am 51 years old .

I tried Adrian Flux. Hard sell techniques, major efforts to upsell.

I normally pay my insurance monthly.

APR at Adrian Flux is almost 40 percent. Forty, not four. Extortionate !

I had never heard of the Insurer  (Markerstudy).

I insured my Alphard, a Jaguar XJR (rocketship) and a Ford Fiesta for about £550 with Aviva. (APR about 13 percent)

Alphard with Aviva, no problem, although the excesses on the Alphard ("import") and the Jaguar ("rather sporty") were a little higher than I had hoped for.

I just called Aviva to notify them of add my camper modifications, which were professionally done, and they no longer want to insure my vehicle !

So, here we go again. I have seven days to reinsure with another company.

AVIVA quoted me unhappy at £1368 for the year!!!

Mine was a very reasonable amount, until I had it converted.

Maybe they are not interested in Alphies anymore !

Just taken out insurance for our 2.4 Alphard. Me and my wife to drive fully comp and its £197. I know that insurance can vary immensely depending on where you live but very happy with the quotes that came through on a comparison website and chose Adrian Flux.

Wow. That is a good price.

Their quotes seem to vary wildly.

Just be a ware that Adrian Flux is a broker; you should enquire who the actual underwriter is and check them out.

Thanks Roger, just waiting for documents to arrive in an email and will check 👍

adrian flux £365 for the ANH20... 1st series they can be quite competitive, not so much for the 2nd series, it first came back at 700. But i told them that is unrealistic and the lady went off to get a better price and came back at 365 with a 400 excess... was 500 but negotiated that down. Excess is a bit higher than i normally have it so took out excess protect to pay the excess.

Yes, good point Steve.

As they are a broker, they should be open to a little haggling; as in your case

The actual company underwriting the insurance for us is called Highway Insurance and part of the LV group

Caution! I have an ongoing claim, started Oct 13 2023.

I'm using Safeguard (part of Swinton), and yes, Highway Insurance is also the underwriter. Good price c£325 with 2 years no claims and £100 excess.

LV have been completely hopeless. Firstly, they asked me for recommended campervan repairers(!!), then picked a local firm but omitted to mention they changed their mind and went for one 40 miles away. The repairer refused to pick up my Alphard (too far), so I called LV and they arranged it on Nov 10 2023, but far too early, as the spares have yet to get there, and are not due until 19 Jan.  The repairer then helpfully told me the spares (the pop top roof in this case) are not standard Toyota (yes, it's a specialist van people!).

Certainly using a campervan broker you would expect some related knowledge by the underwriter during the claim process.

I'll be researching better underwriters.

I am with Highway, through Scenic.

I had the misfortune to suffer a broken windscreen in the summer.

Autoglass checked their list of contracted Insurers and I was fully covered.

I did pay a 70 pounds excess, and the screen did take a month to arrive.

Fitted on my drive with no issues.

I found Autoglass exceptional.

My insurance this year did increase but only by 20 pounds !

Good luck with the outcome of your claim.

You raise a very good point regarding pop tops not being OEM and therefore more difficult to source.
