Jtyoung
Hi all Just joined the forum as I've just bought a 2005 v6 alphard. Delighted with it so far but have hit a slight issue with procuring a roof rack. I spoke with jap auto's Southampton (legend) really helpful. Says the 2002 - 2008 model roof bars are really hard to locate but he could import for c. £350 from his dealer in Japan. Just wondering if anyone else has had any joy closer to home. Any help greatfully appreciated. James
Tim Carter
Hello, I've also just bought an Alphard and have been doing the same research It looks like these are a couple of options if you can find them or afford them: https://www.prorack.co.nz/cars/toyota/alphard/2007/5doormpv-144414/117549 https://www.goodeleisure.com/treefrog-suction-mounted-roof-rack-cross-bars-7282-p.asp I have a Canadian canoe so will likely go for the suction roof bars

Jay Hine
Hello, I've just had similar problems getting a roof rack (I really wanted the thule fitting kit for my current roofrack but couldn't find it!). I have now managed to sort it by getting the Prorack / Yakima aero through bar which looks really nice and fits really well, and I thought it might be good to post up details for anyone else in the same position as I ended up with a really nice looking bar for £250. You will need: S17 aero through bar - I got this from www.roofbox.co.uk for £175. K988 fitting kit - this needs to be shipped from Australia, I got it from www.roofracksgalore.com.au which came to £75 including shipping. It took about a week to arrive. Much better than those crappy looking ones for £500 on e-bay! Jay

Trish M
Hi Everyone I need a roof rack for my 2004 Alphard. I followed the suggestion given previously to contact Yakima in Australia. They eventually said none of their couriers would quote for sending to Scotland. I’m about to do more research and will post results, but if anyone has had success I’d love to hear about it. Don’t really want to spend over £400 for the eBay option ….!

Jeff Smith
I just installed a rack on my 2003 MNH-15. I bought a SportRack SR1002 and modified the grip plates to follow the contour of the sliding door jamb. I used M12 cap screws to anchor the plates into the factory captive nuts. Iain McKendry
Hi Jeff, that looks great. I'm also about to attempt a fitting on a series 10 Alphard , and the only bit that surprises me about your set up is the spec of the bolt holding the fitting plate to the roof, which you've said is an M12. Are you sure about that? I was thinking it was an M6....
Jeff Smith
Iain, I think I was mistaken. It must be an M6 I agree. Whatever fits the captive but in the body.
Jeff Smith
That is captive NUT.
Rodri
New to the Alphard world! Just got a 2006 a few weeks ago and been loving it except I had no idea of the nightmare it was gonna be with roof racks and bike racks. Has anyone else around here tried any kind of rack adaptations that have proven reliable? Thanks everyone!
ijwhiteman
Same, it looks like the only option I found for GGH20 is on eBay or direct from Japan at around £400. They are also flimsy square bars with only up to 50kg limits. I am hoping a body shop can put some rails on that I can then mount my roof top tent to. Seen some great examples on websites for NZ but they will not ship to UK.

Search the forum photo section, as a start. Towing, by the way, is another topic entirely !
Merlin
I have a set of roof bars for sale. I purchased last year and only used once before my alphard battery died on me. I no longer have the vehicle. Edited May 7 by Merlin To add pictures
