Hybrid Inverter

Recommended Posts

Hi  All,

I have been told that my Inverter has packed upon my 2007 2.4 Alphie and parts cannot be found to repair it. I have been told an option is to import a new one from Japan, takes 10 days at a cost of £5,200.23p inc VAT  Agghh !!  This I cannot afford. My lovely Alphard is slowly becoming a money pit.  Any suggestions please.

Michael

Have you tried Autojapspares.co.uk

Failing that Campers Scotland in Denny. They convert Alphards to campervans they replaced my inverter... took 3 months mind as they had to find the problem and sort it while keeping up with their orders.

Best of luck, Sunny

Have you had a diagnostic check with code and sub codes? We have a problem with our inverter and the hybrid specialist we use checked it with his computer.  On the Facebook hybrid Alphard group someone repaired his own inverter, did research and tackled it.  I wouldn’t be able to so we asked someone who services hybrid batteries.  Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Thanks Liz and all for your input. I have been using Peter Holland of Bright Spark Automotive. He tells me that he does not have and cannot source any of the parts he needs to repair my Inverter. He enquired to replace the whole Inverter from Japan and including VAT and shipping it was to be £5,200.23p. Bloody expensive, I know, but I have taken a bank loan out to pay for it and then I should get many happy years of motoring without a breakdown ( fingers crossed ). It will take 10 days to come over and I will report back progress. Am I doing the right thing.

Hi Michael,

If your specialist know what part in the inverter is faulty, you can get the separate internal parts for the inverter.
Have a look here:

Hello  Adam

Thanks for the thought, I don't profess to know the workings of engines these days, I rely on specialists who have been reccommended to me to work on them for me. Peter Holland told me he normally carries spares of all sorts but he was clean out of the parts he needed. One repairs one bit, then months down the line something else goes. I am hoping that buying a new Inverter I should get many years of uninterupted motoring, fingers crossed.

I have just been speaking to Mark at Hybrid Repairs who specialises in hybrids of all types and has just repaired my HV battery- he comes highly recommended in several posts on the Forum.

He says he can repair inverters for a fraction of the cost of the new imported replacement- may I suggest you contact him - he is always willing to give advice and I don't think there are many with his expertise and experience.

He can also supply hybrid coolant pumps.

Hi.

I have the chance of an Alphard with a broken inverter.
How is Alphie since the new inverter has been fitted??

Cheers

Brilliant, one of the best investments I have made. Other than a couple of punctures Alfies been a dream to drive. I had to borrow the money to pay for the new Inverter, they only have a limited life span. So I should get many years of trouble free motoring now and I still get 35 - 40 mpg.
